Maher said that when high-ranking members of the GOP denounce Trump’s behavior, they are ignoring their own past of pushing for voter I.D. laws or siding with the cops who shoot unarmed black men.
Author and commentator Matt Lewis pushed back, saying that plenty in the party “reject this stuff.”
Maher wasn’t here for that, challenging him to say that that “stuff” had never been a part of the party. Ari Shapiro jumped in to say that those aspects had always been present, but this week in politics blew them wide apart, all thanks to Trump.
