Today The State Department Officially Denied The U.S. Is Invading Canada

A spokeswoman for the State Department took questions from journalists today and addressed a scheduled meeting between Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Mexican foreign minister. Of course, since this was a meeting of involving North American diplomats and no one from Canada was involved, one journalist decided to ask if this was a “secret thing… to invade Canada or something like that.” And so, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland officially denied that the U.S. and Mexico are forming a coalition to invade Canada.

Nuland answered questions about the meeting, which included a signing ceremony and was not open to the press. The journalist who asked about the meeting followed up, leading to this awkward exchange.

“This isn’t some secret thing to invade Canada or something like that?”

“No, no, no. It’s not anything classified.”

Though while the United States is not currently planning to invade Canada, it’s only a matter of time
