New footage continues to emerge from the horrific events in France Thursday night, including a clip of a motorcycle rider who bravely tried to put an end to the carnage.
Richard Gutjahr, a German journalist, was in Nice last night, and he talked with Agence France-Presse about what he saw as people started to flee the mass murder.
“I stood on the balcony, right on the Promenade des Anglais, and saw how people celebrated there, and how suddenly a truck drove through the crowd,” Gutjahr said. “Surprisingly, he drove very slowly, not fast, he drove slowly and he was chased by a motorcyclist.”

Indeed, Gutjahr took a smartphone video of the truck’s progression, and he caught a motorcyclist drive up alongside it. The motorcyclist jumped off his bike and tried to force his way into the truck’s cabin, though Gutjahr said he fell and was sucked under the tires before he could succeed.
Gutjahr also described the moments after his video stopped, where he saw policemen and citizens both fleeing and chasing the truck as gunshots continued to ring out.
“In the next 15 to 20 seconds there were shots from several guns,” Gutjahr said. “I don’t know who shot at whom.”
