Donald Trump on Saturday stopped an enthusiastic Christian conference audience from chanting “USA! USA!” during his remarks, saying that can wait until after the election.
Trump delivered the keynote at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s “Road to Majority Conference” on Saturday, an annual event for the group founded by Religious conservative Ralph Reed, formerly of the Christian Coalition. Other speakers at the event included frequent candidate Kari Lake, Republicans Sen. Josh Hawley and Sen. Joni Ernst, former Trump official Dr. Ben Carson, former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, and many other Republicans in policy and media.
Trump focused heavily on two core themes in his speech, repeatedly saying he’s the candidate who will protect religious freedom in country, and that getting out to vote is the most important way to make sure he wins so Christians don’t face arrest or persecution he claims will happen under President Joe Biden – who is currently the president as the Christian conference with Christian speakers takes place.
As Trump was making day-one promises for actions he’ll take if elected, the audience broke into “USA! USA!” chants often heard at Trump rallies and speeches. But this time he interrupted to emphasize the need to show up and vote.
“Don’t give me any of that ‘USA’ – go out and vote, that’s all I ask,” he said. As some in the crowd continued
After the chanting renewed as he was remarking, Trump said, “No USA right now! You just go out and vote, then we’ll go USA. Because then we’re going to make our country great again.”
Within moments of taking the oath of office, I will seal the border, stop the invasion, and send Joe Biden’s illegal aliens back home where they belong. They belong back home.
