Fox News host Laura Ingraham did not appear to be buying what Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was trying to sell her on Thursday night.
Ramaswamy participated in the fourth GOP primary debate on Wednesday, where he sparred with former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and continued his attacks on former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
Former President Donald Trump, who is boycotting the debates, is the runaway frontrunner in the polls.
Ramaswamy, who is campaigning in Iowa, joined The Ingraham Angle to discuss his campaign.
“Vivek, given where things are in the polls and you pitched yourself as a real list and commonsense conservative and I think quite effectively just rhetorically and substantively,” she said. “But you’re trailing DeSantis, Trump, and Nikki Haley. So I think her question to you right now would be, ‘Why don’t you drop out? I mean, she should drop out? Why don’t you drop out and endorse Trump?”
“One of the things we’re seeing on the ground in Iowa – and this is practical reality – is many of my supporters are not traditional caucus-goers. They’re people who may come wearing Ron Paul shirts, many people on college campuses and otherwise. These people are not polled.”
He then said his campaign events are well-attended.
“So, you’re saying tonight that there’s gonna be a groundswell of support for you at the Iowa caucuses?
“It’s going to shatter the expectations,” he replied. “So, I like where we sit. I like the mainstream media set expectations exactly where we want them. They have me polling in fourth. We’re gonna deliver a major surprise on January 15th.”
