Trump, Pence Offer Their Thoughts and Prayers in Wake of Deadly Capital Gazette Shooting

President Donald Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence both offered their thoughts and prayers in the wake of the deadly Capital Gazette shooting Thursday afternoon.

“Prior to departing Wisconsin, I was briefed on the shooting at Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” Trump tweeted out. “Thank you to all of the First Responders who are currently on the scene.”

He did not answer a request for comment from reporters upon his return to the White House.

Meanwhile, Pence, who in Guatemala also sent out a similar tweet: “Just arrived in Guatemala. We are monitoring the horrific shooting at the Capital Gazette in Annapolis. Karen & I are praying for the victims and their families. We commend the swift action by law enforcement and all the first responders on the scene.”

At least five are being reported dead in the attack on the Capital Gazette offices in Annapolis, MD. Others have been reported as gravely injured.

The identity of the shooter and a possible motive have not yet been released.
