Ted Cruz on CNN: Twitter Porn Like Wasn’t ‘Malicious’; Staffer ‘Hit the Wrong Button’

Senator Ted Cruz appeared on CNN today to discuss tax reform, but also the, um, other thing.

Yeah, by now you’ve almost certainly heard about Cruz’s accidental like of a porn tweet earlier this week. Cruz joked about it and said it was just a staffer’s error, but he appeared on CNN this and Dana Bash had to ask him about this.

Cruz said it wasn’t “malicious,” just simply that a staffer “accidentally hit the wrong button.”

He said they have spoken to the staffer in question, but declined to ID the staffer in question, insisting that they “dealt with it internally.”

But when Bash brought up reporting that he once defended a Texas law banning sales of sex toys, Cruz said that’s another example of the liberal media taking a narrative and running with it.

And then this actual exchange happened:

BASH: I can’t believe I’m going to ask you this, but you’re officially saying Ted Cruz is okay with people buying sex toys?

CRUZ: I am saying that consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want in their bedrooms. The media and the left seem obsessed with sex. Let people do what they want!
