Alaskan Senator Fires Back At Palin’s Potential 2014 Run: She Might Not Even Be Alaska ‘Resident’

Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) has fired back at Sarah Palin after the former Alaskan governor indicated she might run for his seat in the 2014 midterm elections.

In a conversation with POLITICO, Begich suggested Palin might not even be a resident of Alaska anymore and that he won’t take her possible run seriously.

“I don’t know if she’s a resident,” he said. “She’s been away from Alaska a lot and has probably lost touch with what’s going on. She should go to my webpage. Most Alaskans I see on a pretty regular basis, but I haven’t seen her for a long time.”

According to POLITICO, Begich questioned Palin’s residency four times throughout the interview. He also questioned the former governor’s ability to handle candidates Joe Miller and Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell in a Republican primary.

“A Republican primary in Alaska? She may not survive,” he said.

Begich also took shots at Palin having “quit” on the state of Alaska several years ago upon her resignation from the governorship. “I take every candidate seriously — that is if she’s still a resident, but you know she quit on Alaska what she was governor,” he said. “She’s been somewhat vacant from the state and quit on the state, so I wish her the best on her potential run.”
