Bloomberg’s Lizzie O’Leary, on the Business – and Big Easy – Beat

Bloomberg’s Lizzie O’Leary has had a busy few months, thanks to BP and their inability to keep their oil under control. Turns out the press aren’t that easy to control either — though O’Leary says they’ve certainly tried. Not that she minds — she’s more than happy to come back to New Orleans from her base in D.C., again and again and again, as she has ever since she first fell in love with New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. I caught up with her in the Lower 9th Ward after she filed from the second line, and talked with her about covering BP in the age of Twitter, where New Orleans is five years out, and what keeps her coming back to the Big Easy. She also was the person who showed me around the Lower 9th Ward. It’s hard not to fall over good people in that town.
