Charlie Sheen Won’t Throw Out World Series First Pitch in Cleveland Despite Social Media Support
It looks like the Wild Thing will be stranded in the bullpen.
Despite support from many on social media, Charlie Sheen will not throw out the first pitch prior to any of the Cleveland Indians’ World Series home games, according to a report by the Associated Press. Sheen played Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn, a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, in the 1989 comedy Major League.
Fans of the 80’s classic took to Twitter to express their desire to experience a bit of nostalgia for the opening of the Series.
Needless to Say: Charlie Sheen throwing out the first pitch as “Wild Thing” would be an all-time sports moment.

Charlie Sheen not throwing out the first pitch is criminal

There is a movement to have Charlie Sheen, as Rick Vaughn, throw out the first pitch in Game 1 of the World Series. This needs to happen.

The groundswell of support led to Sheen tweeting that he’d participate if asked.

But public sentiment was far from unanimous. Past indiscretions such as not disclosing his HIV diagnosis to sexual partners, and a history of domestic violence incidents made the idea of a Sheen first pitch a non-starter to some.

Mad at Josh Brown but want Charlie Sheen to throw out the first pitch? No, can’t have it both ways. Who you are as a human should matter.

@Rachel__Nichols @charliesheen Absolutely not. He’s done nothing to earn that privilege. Abuses women, as bad as Trump. Despicable

The Indians will instead turn to “franchise greats” who actually played on the team in real life, according to the AP report.
