Look, mistakes happen. This one just happens to be a little more cringe-inducing than others.

Here’s what happened. T.J. Holmes is filling in for Rick Sanchez today – CNN correspondent Jeanne Meserve has a report. Except, she keeps calling him Don. Like, Don Lemon.

She started her report with, “Don, we’ve’ heard about this woman…” and closed out the same way. Holmes joked about it directly after. “Yes, I’m T.J., it’s alright,” he said. “She knows who I am, it’s okay.”

Is it though? Here’s what Holmes tweeted during the next commercial break:

TJ Holmes should have corrected her the first time she said it. It ultimatley would have allowed for a quick oops and they could have moved on and this would have been a non story.

Visually, I confuse them all the time too with the mute button on. However, Holmes has a much deeper voice than Lemon. She should have known that.

Unless one has a trained eye it might not be obvious that Don’s lips are bigger than T.J’s. Just sayin’.

I can’t tell much of a difference between the two!

Until I fully read the article, I just thought it was the same guy’s pic posted twice.

Sitting on the other end of a live link (perhaps without a monitor) it would be easy for anyone to mistake TJ with Don – particularly because Don Lemon is far more visible during peak viewing hours. There voices aren’t that much different either – especially when likely being fed through a mono ear piece.
