Did Oakland Mayor Jean Quan Admit Cities Coordinated To Bust Occupy Protests?

Oakland mayor Jean Quan [pictured] admitted in an interview with the BBC that she and leaders across various other cities experiencing Occupy protests recently participated in a group call.

“I was recently on a conference call with 18 cities across the country who had the same situation where what had started as a political movement and a political encampment ended up being an encampment that was no longer in control of the people who started them,” Quan shared, adding that she was concerned about the “anarchist” element within the movement who would risk “destabilizing” the demonstrations. This comes as many are wondering whether “crackdowns” of the protests across various cities have been part of an organized effort to remove protesters, or whether it is merely a coincidence that so many of the demonstrations are being dismantled at the same time.

Later, Quan added that, as far as New York City’s Zuccotti Park is concerned, “it’s interesting that the Wall Street movement is actually on a private park, so they’re not, again, in the public domain, and they’re not infringing on the public’s right to use a public park.”

As radio program The Takeaway notes, the protests could be heading towards a turning point, whether that means taking Adbusters’ advice and “scaling back,” dismantling completely, or simply regrouping and moving elsewhere. Have a listen:

Does it matter it seems like shes a lame duck anyways till the next election.

  • Kahlid Shiek Yerbouti

So the mayors of fourteen American cities colluded to abridge the constitutional rights of their citizens and they think the OWS movement  has just run it’s course?   Not even close…..OCCUPY EVERYTHING NOW!

  • Jason_in_Vegas

Yes, and i’m sure the geniuses who put her into office will elect somebody much more in tune with reality here on earth. It’s not like the “people” of the bay area are known for voting for complete nutcase losers or anything.

  • Jason_in_Vegas

Why don’t you occupy reality for once in your life, dickhead?

You’re pretty pissed off aren’t you?

You go Mayor Quan. Arrest them all and don’t just have them pay fine; have them do community service too. I see allot of trash where highway 880 and 580 merge north of Oakland and that needs to be cleaned up.

  • Jonathan Cantor

Its their right. So you can’t exactly bash it.

  • Pablo

    You spelled “observant” wrong.

  • Pablo

Sure he can. First Amendment, right?

  • Pablo

That’s the constitutional right to OCCUPY EVERYTHING, is it?

  • Pablo

Better yet, throw them out and then let them move back in. And then do it again! And again!

They really ought to recall this nitwit.

  • Anonymous

Actually, that might work because it would inconvenience these ‘Occupiers’ to no end and remember these are people who don’t like work.

    Kahlid Shiek this…

Are you insane? She’s losing support from her own administration for CRACKING DOWN on the occupiers. Her own advisor and deputy mayor have resigned.

  • us995

shes losing her job for not cracking down the rats always leave the sinking ship first

First there were “rogue elements” in the camp.  Then some rogue cops assaulted the lambs and ignored the wolves.  Now 18 rogue mayors confer on how to violate the First Amendment rights to speech and assembly.  Whatever happened to the role of the police and city governments to serve and protect?  Something’s wrong here.  Too many rogues in high place.s

You probably know that Quan did exactly that.

    Oh yeah. My mistake.

Video`s show faces of unhappy young white protestors, most have parents making over 20 bucks an hour. But the only jobs available to the unhappy youngsters are those paying only 10 bucks an hour. The passage of the president’s new jobs bill will open up 20 buck an hour construction jobs and put once unhappy youngsters in the driver’s seat of a new car.

  • Pablo

Progressives make that mistake a lot.

  • Pablo

    Yup.
