Jerry Lewis And His Chihuahua Share A Long Kiss On His Telethon

video

This is the most romantic moment we’ve seen on television in a long time, once you get over the fact that half of the participants aren’t human. On Jerry Lewis‘s most recent telethon to fight muscular dystrophy, Lewis shared some screen time with Paul, his chihuahua, who is trained to sing “Madame Butterfly,” but was in a more loving mood than to sing that night.

It’s difficult to come up with an introduction that does this video justice, as it’s simultaneously adorable but, due to the length and level of passion with which this exchange goes on, also a bit uncomfortable. That said, it’s perfect viral material, if you can resist the looming question marks and embrace the cute:

Let’s give Jerry Lewis his due for his lifelong commitment to this cause. For someone who is 84, he could easily enjoy his retirement years without continued advocacy for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, but he is still out there trying to do some good in the world. More power to him.

It is impossible to fall out of love. Love is such a powerful emotion, that once it envelops you it does not depart. True love is eternal. If you think that you were once in love, but fell out of it, then it wasn’t love you were in. There are no ‘exit’ signs in love, there is only an ‘on’ ramp. Absolutely agree with Felix…I have loved this telethon for as long as I can remember, and it’s a great tradition to watch it with my family every year; my dad has been a fan of Mr. Lewis’s for as long as *he* can remember as well. It’s a slice of old Hollywood for such a great and worthy cause. What a tireless fight against muscular dystrophy. Let’s all cross our fingers that Mr. Lewis will see a cure in his lifetime. They should name it after him.
