Lamestream! US Weekly Presents Satirical Sarah Palin Story As Real

Score one more for Sarah Palin in her fight against the “Lamestream Media”: Celebrity gossip source Us Weekly published a story about the former Alaska governor that included quotations originally fabricated for a satirical news piece.

According to
Gossip Cop, SuperTuesdayNews.com came up with some Palin quotes for a post about her “reaction” to Christina Aguilera‘s mangling of the national anthem during last weekend’s Super Bowl. In quoting the article, Us Weekly failed to note that these quotes were 1) not actually ever uttered by Palin and were 2) a joke. In fact, Us Weekly‘s site attributes the quote to an interview Palin gave to Sean Hannity.

Gossip Cop reports:

Therefore, according to the outlet, Palin calls Aguilera a “demanding beauty queen who’s clearly in over her head.”

The fake “Palin” also talks about wanting to “deport” Aguilera, because “spicy Latin princesses” shouldn’t be allowed to sing at the Super Bowl.

“Unemployment is at nine percent, yet we have to suffer through a performance by a foreigner with a poor grasp of the English language,” the fake “Palin” supposedly tells “Hannity” in the phony interview.

So. How’s that Palin-free month going for y’all?

Following is a screen grab of the US Weekly story that currently appears to be off the site:

Update: It would appear that Us Weekly has since scrubbed the post from its site, given a Google search for the article’s title brings up a URL that simply leads to the site’s homepage.

US Weekly is EXACTLY the kind of publication that should be covering Sarah Palin. She is an awesome celebrity and I love to hear what wacky hijinx her and Charlie Sheen will get into next!

  • Nacho

The real problem is people aren’t able to differentiate what this Spudnut is capable of saying.

Lamestream hacks & peeper pundits all agree: Sarah Palin’s name in a headline draws attention. That is all they know on Earth, and all they need to know.

  • Garth

It seems that but for the lamestream media but therefore, it is also and yet therefore we can look to the future and with them too and but also.

Exactly Lars. EXACTLY. That goes for both sides.

Right: GUESS WHO WE GOT TONIGHT!?!! SAAARRAAAAH PAAAAALINNN!!! (thunderous applause)

Sarah Palin Rules…. never in the history of the USA has one perosn agravated the left wingers so bad…. I love it. MSNBC dedicates HOURS AND HOURS every night worrying about her. She is sitting back laughing and making millions while keeping her fan base. Whats going to be hilarious is when she says she ISNT RUNINNG for president and all of the Lefts anger and time on bashing her was all for nothing…. except making her filthy rich. GOOD JOB SARAH….your putty in the loony lefts hands..

  • joe7

Its like they are trying to elevate Palin. Stop covering her and failling at attacking her. She just gets another notch in her belt for doing nothing, All the media keeping her relevant know she gets hits, and they want money. Just stop reporting these non stories, and making her relevant

It’d be interesting to learn how “US Weekly” dropped the ball so badly.

If you go to the site, it’s obviously satire and a quick glance shows that it isn’t indexed by Google News, Google’s Blogsearch, IceRocket or Technorati. I haven’t checked all of the blog indexing services, but as you work your way down the ladder, you’re certainly opening yourself up to more obscure blogs, so the author would’ve had to have gone out of their way to find the entry or someone would’ve had to have accepted a tip at face value.

The left is aggravated by Palin in much the same way the right was flipping about Obama when he ran for president. Palin has a huge chunk of the electorate just eating out of her hand and her opponents don’t understand why, as did Obama. So everyone just goes crazy about her, which just adds fuel to her fire. I’m absolutely transfixed by her entire family. They are truly a national treasure. She has absolutely no real political influence yet her every move is covered ad nauseum. And it looks like little Bristol has the same talent.

Well yes she has influence in that she can fly around the country and gin up support for who she likes. What was the last thing she ever did of actual political significance, though? She is in charge of nothing and she has no elected office. Her old homeboy Bill Kristol has said she has been “disappointing.” Polls (take them for whatever you want) show that Obama would smash her in an actual election. Yet, she is STILL all over the place. That’s impressive. As was Bristol on Dancing with the Stars!!!

In the ends-justify-the-means worldview of the left, the truth is roadkill for what is really important to them: scoring political victories.

Just ask any liberal commenter here and they will freely admit: they dont care that this story isnt true, and in fact they are hopeful that someone will read this (especially a Latino) and turn on Palin.

If you dont think this is true, then you already forgot about Giffords and the Tuscon Shooting.

Character assassinations in what passes for “politically neutral” media like the Today Show, SNL, or US Weekly is an important tool for the left. They need to reach audiences that arent otherwise into politics.

Come on honeybunny, please answer the question. I don’t want to go surf the net for tales of him being this or that. I want to know what specifically makes you think he has skeletons in the closet that are being hushed. The birth certificate story? The madrassa? Reverend Wright? All of these stories are pretty out in the open and/or have been “refudiated” (Love that word! Thanks Sarah!).

Also, please don’t assume that I kneel to the altar of Obama either. His stances on several issues (drug policy, gay marriage, the bailout, PATRIOT Act, Gitmo) have left a lot to be desired, IMHO. I do, however, think he is trying to do the best for this country.

His stance on the Constitution is one thing that has been downplayed, Wrights connection to to Louis Farrakhan has been played down. Those two alone are enough. His ties to Bill Ayers has been played down. His handling of Iran, GE tax breaks and Jeffry Immelt in the WH, and START has been played down. He is currently held in contempt of court by two federal judges, that he thumbs his nose to. One in FL over 0bamacare, and one in LA for the drilling moratorium.

Like I said though, if you want to get into his position on the Constitution that’s one thing. We could go on all night about the nature of it as “living document” He did practice constitutional law so I imagine he might be pretty knowledgeable on what is legal and not. What has he specifically done that upsets you?

The Wright thing I though was pretty well covered and done with. Besides, there is a lot more to Rev. Wright than “God damn white America.” And Bill Ayers? Come on…again, wasn’t that everywhere? If we really investigate all of these stories they aren’t the boogie man stories they are made out to be. Everything else you list is just politics. START? Iran? Those are all give and take.

My point is you said he had skeletons in his closet that are not being reported, but I really don’t see that.

Finally, I’m different from everyone else because I made a good effort to be civil and you called me “sweet pea” thought I would enjoy the smell of my president’s feces, and asked how I’m different from every other clown. I’ll leave you, @ndanielson and others to your theories about how there’s some vast left-wing conspiracy that somehow encompasses a blogpost by an intern on a gossip website…

My point about the dropping the ball is that in addition to the SuperTuesdayNews site not being indexed by three of the largest blogsearches including Google’s with their email alerts, they also apparently launched only two weeks ago and have just five Twitter followers.

The post about Ms Palin containing the fake comments was tweeted on the 7th and the “US Weekly” post is timestamped at 5:43pm on the 9th.

A Twitter search wouldn’t have taken so long to produce the post, plus a keyword search on her name would’ve been cumbersome. I don’t know when the regular Google spider crawled the site, but there was more than 24 hrs from post to post and again even if they set a one day limitation, a keyword search of the entire ‘net would’ve been overwhelming.

This leads me to believe that quite possibly someone submitted the link and the reporter, plus their editor didn’t do due diligence.

Wrong, BHO did not practice Constitutional Law and never tried a case. He wasn’t even a Professor, he was in instructor. (one tiny step above a TA)

Wrong, Ayers and Wright were never fully investigated. No “MSM Reporter” ever investigated Wrights sermons or involvement with whack job nuts. And Ayers most likely Ghost Wrote BHO books.

Where are his College transcripts? Where are his Scholarship applications? Where is his long form legal Birth Certificate? (Not a certificate of birth that anyone can get) How is it his mother started school at the University of Washington in Seattle less than a week after his birth? What about Frank Marshall? When did he stop using Cocaine? (he admitted he used it)
This is less than 5% of the unanswered questions.
We still know next to nothing about a man who went from the state legislature and spent less than 100 day actually on the floor of the US Senate.

Like I told the clown, it don’t matter what 0bama ate for breakfast, lunch or dinner, if you held his sh!t up to their noses it would not stink. But they just don’t see that. The constitutional law professor, is the funniest one, too. In spite of the very job description that Harvard had for 0bama, they do not get it.

Then there is him being the only Harvard law review president to never pen a paper with his name on it in the school’s entire history. It was established in 1817…No stink there. His wife was never proud of America in her entire adult life, until Barry was nominated! And America is a down right mean country, according to Michelle. Yes, these people in the White House are all American to the bone.

Don’t even mention Michelle’s no show-job, and her hospital patient dumping. Wow. But this clown will tell you that that is Michell and NOT Barry! Her sh!t don’t stink either.

Then 0bama’s buddies Van Jones and Anita Dunn are admitted communist lovers. A pedophile for a safe school czar, Kevin Jennings. Just gooogle his name and fistgate. Tax cheats Timmy Geithner, and Tom Daschle (who thankfully was exposed before he was seated in his administration).

Elena Kagen advised 0bama on the fight SCOTUS would play BEFORE 0bama seated her on the SCOTUS! An empathetic Latina on the top court in the land of blind justice and equal justice. The new black panther case.

To the extent he wants wonderfulness and prosperity everywhere, I don’t want that to fail. I just know better than to think his horribly misguided policies will lead to anything of the sort.

    http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=261673

As for a liberal media bias? Do I need to dig up all the clippings from GW Bush’s first year in office? Remember the landing on the aircraft carrier? Chris Matthews: “We’re proud of our president. Americans love having a guy as president, a guy who has a little swagger, who’s physical, who’s not a complicated guy like [former President Bill] Clinton or even like [former Democratic presidential candidates Michael] Dukakis or [Walter] Mondale, all those guys, [George] McGovern. They want a guy who’s president. Women like a guy who’s president. Check it out. The women like this war. I think we like having a hero as our president. It’s simple. We’re not like the Brits. We don’t want an indoor prime minister type, or the Danes or the Dutch or the Italians, or a [Russian Federation President Vladimir] Putin. Can you imagine Putin getting elected here? We want a guy as president.”

The press goes for whatever sells. In 2008 it was what how AMAZING Obama was. You’re damn right they did a piss poor job vetting the guy. Just like they did a piss poor job asking W. about WMD. The fact is, Obama is just not the terrible muslim communist menace he is sometimes portrayed as. Just_MC thinks he’s an awful president and is totally within his right to think so. He thinks his policies are junk. I think some are junk and some are good. See? No need for screaming.

@GJPinks “BHO did not practice Constitutional Law and never tried a case. He wasn’t even a Professor, he was in instructor. (one tiny step above a TA)”

I was an “adjunct professor” at FIU for a couple of years, but that’s a couple of steps above a lecturer, and BHO was actually rejected as even a lecturer because THE U. of CHICAGO LAW SCHOOL Board looked over his credentials and decided he really was a Potemkin village, with zero experience and an affirmative-action steroids GPA [which has never been published]. His job as “President of The Harvard law Review” is a sinecure, given to somebody who cosmetically shuts up complaints from politicized outsiders about “equal opportunity.” BHO never wrote in the HLR nor argued any briefs in law school exercises. The Profs in the Law School denied him an office and any responsibilities, but then mysteriously [methinks BHO whined to the right ears], the U. of Chicago BOARD OF REGENTS demanded that the Law School give him an office funded by the U rather than the Law School and some teaching responsibilities.

I have a card from the U. of Chicago giving me privileges as an outside “Friend of the University,” but I’d never dare to call myself a “Professor,” which the lying POS that is the jug-eared imposter in the Oval Office has done ever since he gave a lecture once a week to about a dozen Law Students about rabble rousing.

Obama’s a complete fake, a phony, and a parasite on polite society which doesn’t know how to deal with poachers and con artists.

Now if you say, “that’s the problem with the lamestream media! They won’t go after Obama!” Well look, here’s Bill O’Reilly himself in regards to the “birther” problem. From World Net Daily.

    http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=261673

From fact check: His formal title was “senior lecturer,” but the University of Chicago Law School says he “served as a professor” and was “regarded as” a professor.

HIS FORMAL TITLE WAS SENIOR LECTURER. Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus.

As far as the birther situation goes: What kind of man, let alone a leader lets a decorated veteran of Afghanistan and a doctor go to prison and lose his career over principle?

What principles? Dr.Terry Lakin refused to deploy for another tour of duty until 0bama showed his long form birth certificate, as he felt taking orders from someone not legally his CIC was unlawful. Lt. Col.Dr. Terry Lakin was a flight surgeon who had to produce his long form to deploy. Mr. 0bama stood by and watched him go to prison for 18 months, and lose his career on a court martial because he was too cowardly to show Dr. Lakin his Long form BC. What were 0bama’s principles? Why did 0bama let him twist in the wind?

Keep doing your research. The fact is our Constitution has been ripped to shreds from liberalism for the past 70 years. it is time to get an originalist attitude, and legislate by we the people, not we the 9 judges. Because at the end of the day, it really comes down to 1 justice in a 4-5 split. That is judicial tyranny.

The federalist papers spell out exactly what the constitution meant by separation of powers and who would have a stronger say, and that was unequivocally the legislative branch, ie., WE THE PEOPLE.

I think we’re getting way too wrapped up in the whole “Obama’s postition at U. Chicago.” When I said he “practiced constitutional law” perhaps I should have been more clear. I meant that he is obviously familiar with our Constitution. Obviously we could argue all night about the constitutionality of some of his policies, like health care for example. When you said his position on the constitution was downplayed, I was just responding that we must agree he has some knowledge on the subject. If we want his position on it we could probably go take some law classes at U.C. and find out.

As for Lt. Col. Lakin, I don’t really think it’s the president’s job to, as he put it, “plaster his birth certificate to his forehead” Hasn’t the copy of that birth certificate been released to the press anyways? I still don’t see how this birther argument continues. The soldier made his decision and he will live with the consequences. I gotta say I admire a guy who’s willing to go to jail for what he believes, even if it is horribly misguided. Nevertheless, as a member of the Armed Forces he is duty bound to follow the commander in chief. It’s not his job to demand the President clarify, again,to him personally, that he is a U.S. citizen. Same goes for Lt. Ehren Watada. Court martialed for refusing to go to Iraq because he thought it was war crimes. Should he have expected Bush to come to him and restate his case for going to war in Iraq? Of course not. He stood for his principles and paid the price. That’s the military.

    Here’s a transcript.

But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society.

And, to that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as it’s been interpreted, and Warren court interpreted it in the same way that, generally, the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties — says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted.

And one of the — I think the tragedies of the civil rights movement was, because the civil rights movements became so court-focused, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing, and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change. And, in some ways, we still suffer from that.

I don’t see what in here would suggest that he is advocating something dangerously un-American or sinister. He says right there how it’s bad that the civil right movements became too court focused.

As for the courts being way too powerful I totally agree. The judicial branch has become terribly politicized. The fiasco in Florida in 2000 or the fact that all those judges in Iowa got thrown off the bench because they ruled that gay marriage was not unconstitutional. Judges should not have to live in fear that if they are trying to make an interpretation of the constitution they will be thrown out if the masses don’t agree. I thought that was the whole point of an independent judiciary. The case in Iowa is particularly alarming because the cause was funded by outside, non-Iowa, interests. We the people absolutely. But we the people should not be able to toss judges out because they’re rulings don’t fit our political views.

  • im_lovin_it

if i could add to that, I don’t mean that we should NEVER be allowed to vote out judges. Some judges are just plain awful or wildly activist, and I’m sure we can find examples on the right and left. I’m just saying I don’t think it’s constructive for our democracy to go around forming coalitions to get rid of judges who don’t rule the way a certain political viewpoint agrees with.

    ndanielson,

Wow! We’ve come a long ways since talking about Palin and US Weekly. Haha. I’ll try to argue these few points that you made, but then I’ll move on. I’m sure we’ll be seeing each other around.

I’d say he’s as familiar with the Constitution as someone who studied and taught it at the Univ. Chicago Law School. I might even call him an expert on it. He has called the Constitution “remarkable.” I don’t see where it is he “despises” or has “contempt” for any of it.

For the army guys, I think you’re making assumptions. Why couldn’t Watada advise the troops as well? Because he’s not a colonel? Would Col. Lakin be the end all be all of the BC argument, then? What if a soldier refused to deploy because he felt Bush’s presidency was illegitimate? Would that be ok? The guy pushed an issue that was generally accepted as being false, that Obama is not an American born citizen. He has since stated he wished he had done things differently. It’s in the link. I would not mind seeing the man pardoned, but he is facing the consequences dictated to him by the Army.

    http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=240373

As for 2000, I don’t think it was right that the Supreme Court stopped a recount and essentially declared a winner. We’ll have to shelve the argument about how Gore “marred the presidency of an otherwise decent man” for another day. That’s a whole other can of worms.

The redistribution of wealth is a phrase that seems to get very overplayed. He’s not endorsing communism or socialism or any such thing. He doesn’t think communism will turn America into utopia. He is saying that this country has obvious examples of social injustice. The disparity between the have and the have-nots has never been worse. Take healthcare. I am lucky enough to have kept my job through this recession and have never had to pay out of pocket for treatment. Others aren’t so lucky: the leading cause of bankruptcy in this country is medical bills. I think some social justice is needed when Lloyd Blankfein gets bailed out with our tax dollars yet he would certainly have no problems paying out of pocket for treatment while we’d be doomed. This country needs to figure out why it’s in the rut it is in and taking the less fortunate to task isn’t the way to do it.

This debate seemed to really get going when you said Obama had skeletons in his closet. Now if you want to argue about the politics of what he does I’m sure we will. I started to above. The point I’m really trying to get at is that he’s not this unknown, untrustworthy commodity. He’s just a politician like anyone else.

FInally, as for the roses and peaches comment, please. If you think all democrats are just over the moon for the guy please read this.

Look at your side of the argument. Ever notice any pattern?

Admittedly, although I really like Palin, I don’t think she’s ready yet to be president. I didn’t think Obama was, either, and he is more than proving me correct in just his first two years in office.

But how can the lamestream media keep calling someone stupid and dumb who so often fakes their elitist “journalists” out and who can control their news cycle for 24 – 48 hours at a time with just one tweet? If she’s as dumb as you guys claim, what does that make you?

And do you know of any other private citizen (which Palin now is) who is given “popularity ratings” by the lamestream loonies, as are politicians? Obama is a sitting president (although not for much longer, thank goodness) and Palin is a private citizen — comparing their popularity polls is like comparing apples and oranges.

    ndanielson,

Sorry, I’m going to go back on what I said. I have to respond to this.

I gave a pretty good example of the media’s obvious shilling for whatever was the flavor of the month. During the “Mission Accomplished” times it was Bush. You argued that by saying that’s “laughable” and that the media is in bed with the government up to it’s ears. I think the press does a terrible job reporting on our gov’t regardless of who’s in charge. I think most of the press just does a terrible job supplying us news altogether.

Then you ask me how I like all these other posters. I don’t see why I have to defend them or like them. This discussion was between you and I. You also stated you don’t need a page to state your case and that I’m making excuses. You just dismissed what I said. Also, despite me giving a specific example showing how Obama is NOT “my boy” you continue with the “enjoy the peaches” joke. There was also a series of comments about him being a “loser” and hating his wife. Those remarks are not conducive to a making an argument.

After all the messages back and forth do you really still want to just dismiss me as, “a liberal clown?” I will readily admit that Bush did lots to save Africa and he doesn’t get credit for that. I also think Bush should be put on trial for war crimes for declaring a war of aggression against another country. I am certainly capable of giving credit to “the other side.” Is there just absolutely NO way you will ever do that? I hope not.

Bush got the green light for his war of aggression, by the congress of the US. Are all of congress who authorized the invasion war criminals???
