Larry Mendte Allowed Back On TV To Make Insane Tiger Woods Videos

Two years ago, Larry Mendte was a successful Philadelphia news anchor at KYW-TV. Then the former Access Hollywood host got caught hacking into coworker Alycia Lane‘s email, plead guilty to federal charges, and lost his job. Publicly disgraced, and with his wife Dawn Stensland considering running for Congress, Mendte has needed a way to get his reputation back. Which, pro: He’s done by landing a possible gig at WPIX. Con: It’s with this video he made about Tiger Woods and is so totally bonkers that it makes you wonder who let this guy back on television. (The answer would be The Tribune Co., which owns WPIX.)
“The ‘What do you think of Tiger’ question became the biggest trick question since ‘Do I look fat in this dress?’” Love the rhetoric, love the graphics, love the fact that this entire segment is for some reason hosted in a bar. While WPIX has yet to offer a firm deal to Mendte yet, WPIX/Channel 11 news director Bill Carey says he and Mendte have been friends for a long time and that putting him on the air “felt like a no-brainer.” Well, that last part certainly applies.
