Oh It’s On! Miley Cyrus Calls Out Mika For Pole-Dance Criticism

video

Example number 214 of why we love Morning Joe: Willie Geist reported on this morning’s program of Miley Cyrus slamming co-host Mika Brzezinski‘s condemnation of the teen-starlet’s “pole dance” last summer. Not only was Joe Scarborough sitting back and watching Mika’s stunned reaction in amusement, but so too was Mika’s father Zbigniew Brzezinski, the former cabinet member under President Carter. Good times!

In this week’s issue of Parade magazine, Miley says of Mika:

My impulse is to say get off my case Mika. Get over it…my job is first to entertain, and do what I love. And if you don’t like it, then change the channel. I’m not forcing you to watch me. I’m not forcing you to talk about me. I would do that pole dance a thousand times because it was right for that song and that performance. But dude, if you think that dancing on top of an ice cream cart with a pole is bad, then go check out what 90 percent of High Schoolers are really up to. It’s funny. I don’t know if a lot of parents remember what they were like as kids. But I’m like “dude! As if you were an angel!”

I think we can all agree to the most appropriate way to resolve this conflict? Dance off!

    Mika is repulsive.

  • MooseOfReason

So the girl who posed topless at 15 and pole-danced in front of a bunch of teenyboppers is trying to lecture America.

    Dudette, are you serious?

  • Cecelia

Dude…Mika doesn’t have to have been an angel…She just has to be an adult with adult wisdom and experience.

Where the hell are this kid’s parents?

  • ChrisNH

Someone ought to ask the overtly haughty and insufferably elite Mika how it feels toiling for a cable channel that got beaten by The Cartoon Network.

anyone who thinks Abraham Lincoln is one of our nations founding fathers shouldn’t be taken to seriously.

  • valkyrie101

I love the hypocrisy on this one, it just oozes. Consider, for example, the hero of the right, Carrie Prejean, who became beloved because of her “courageous” stand against gay rights. Just google her name and there are more sexually provocative poses than you can shake a stick at. And why is it that virtually every female FOX talking head is a blond model?

Miley is seventeen, has a career, and the choice to pole dance is her’s. I admire her for her courage.

  • Cecelia

Yeah, any minor entertainer should win a Profile In Courage Award for being exploited.

  • PureFreedom

Miley is attacked buy the left because her Dad and her do believe in more conservative values.
But Lady Gaga is praised by Mika for her art form.
    typical! Liberals.

  • The Real Royal King

I thought we were talking about one of the Palin girls at first.

  • The Real Royal King

Miley is attacked buy the left because her Dad and her do believe in more conservative values.

That’s so clear that it is almost redundant to mention it, isn’t it?

  • am_underground

DUDE, can hardly wait to see Miley’s train wreak play out in the tabloids. DUDE, as for Mika she’s always come off as the Washington elitist she is but I bet she has a few skeletons in the closet. Valkyrie101: DUDE, Mika is on MSMBC not fox. If you’re going to comment, at least know who you’re talking about.

  • TylerDurdin

” Dude…Mika doesn’t have to have been an angel…She just has to be an adult with adult wisdom and experience”

    She has neither, Dude!

  • valkyrie101

I am pretty sure that Miley makes her own decisions. Her response to Mika indicates that she did.

    Mika is a liberal?

Hey underground, I did not say that Mika was on Fox, dude. But the expected conservative response posted on this thread is what I was referring to. And as far as Miley’s train wreck, at least she has a train to wreck. Not all celebrities crash and burn. Are you hoping that she does to justify yourself?

  • TylerDurdin

Hey, libs , go back to embracing Polanski.

  • valkyrie101

I don’t think Polanski is embraced by too many liberals. A few actors, and a couple of assorted others, but that is it. On the other hand, O’Reilly, who was accused of sexual harassment, captured on audio tape, coughed up 20 million to buy silence, and that did not cause any conservatives to bat their eyes. Nor did the conservatives have any problem, as I mentioned earlier, with Carrie Prejean. Why? Because in the case of O’Reilly and Prejean they are both are conservative icons. That is the hypocrisy of condemning Miley. And ironcially, in many ways, Miley is pretty conservative too.

  • PureFreedom

    Valkrie101,
Why should anyone condemn Prejean? She said what she felt? Whats wrong with that? The left and there buddy Prez Hilton attacked her for telling what she felt and she was truthful.

  • valkyrie101

    Purefreedom,
No, I am not talking about that. That was her right to do that. And because of her anti-gay rights position, the conservatives fell all over themselves adoring her. She celebrated her fame all across the air waves. A real right wing hero. But she was holding out the Christian pro-family values pure morality position, that supposedly she was standing up for in her statement about gays, while at the same time she was allowing herself to be photographed nude (and much more provocatively then Miley’s pole dance), drinking and all the rest. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with any of that. She is a doll, loved her naked pictures. But why is she adored by the conservative pro-family values crowd and Miley is condemned? Because Miley is younger? She is past the age of consent and has every right to be sexually provocative if she chooses. My point is that admonishing Miley and adoring Carrie is hypocritical.

  • nycguy

How could this possibly be political? Liberal vs. Conservative? I mean come on with that bullshit. This is a mom (who has a public voice because of being on TV) of an eleven year old girl who idolizes Miley Cyrus and she is grossed out by a 16 year old her daughter idolizes, ‘all sexed up and pole dancing’. What’s the big politcal conspiracy mystery here? I agree with Miley Cyrus that she should be able to do whatever she wants – but she (and her handlers) need to understand that certain people (moms of eleven year old daughters who idolize her) might be concerned by what their daughters are being exposed to via youtube and other outlets. Shooting back with comments in an interview calling a 44 year old woman ‘DUDE’ just makes her seem like a moron. Clearly Miley Cyrus and her handlers (who I am sure reviewed and approved every word of that interview) have decided they want to ‘sell her’ as a rebel to help her graduate from being a ‘tween idol’ to being ‘relevant’ to the ‘tween’ generation as they age. I hope Mika just ignores this with an ‘eye roll’ and let’s it go and doesn’t feed into what is clearly a marketing strategy for yet another minimally talented self-serving spoiled brat with an annoying zero talent father.

  • valkyrie101

    nyc,
Well, OK, a mother objecting to what she perceives as a bad influence on her daughter. Does Mika normally let her daughter hang out with kids six years older than her? Should it surprise Mika that girls in their late teens discover their sexuality? And that is Miley’s fault that her 11 year old daughter idolizes her? So therefore Miley should be castigated as vile because she has matured and discovered her sexuality, or that she is now performing for an older crowd, an crowd that also celebrates sexuality?

No talent? Spoiled brat? Sure, dude.

Some of us just don’t take women seriously when they borrow money for enhancements, put glue on their butts and prance around nude in front of cameras. We might enjoy all of that, but we don’t take the women seriously.

  • nycguy

    @valkyrie101

you might want to read my comment again – and this time engage your brain

  • valkyrie101

    nyc,
I don’t think I missed anything. Actually I am not a Miley fan (nor a Lady Gaga fan). But I stand up for either of them to express themselves freely. Some people like that, some don’t.

  • nycguy

    @valkyrie101

Miley and Lady Gaga should be able to express themselves freely, but Mika Brzezinski should not be able to express herself freely?

  • valkyrie101

If you read the comments on this thread you would know how the conservatives, the usual suspects here, feel about Miley. So this discussion is well beyond Mika. Anyway, I suppose you are right, Mika most certainly has the right to express herself. I would not deny her that right. But since she is a commentator, essentially advising hundreds of thousands of people on her views, it is only fair that she be challenged over those views.

  • nycguy

    @valkyrie101

So, then you would agree that since Miley Cyrus is ‘advising’ hundreds of thousands of impressionable young girls with the ‘image’ she conveys that it is only fair that parents of those girls have the right to challenge her on what image she is presenting, correct?

  • valkyrie101

Nice, nycguy, good argument. I have to agree with you. Comment is fair coming from both perspectives. But comment coming in response to fair comment is also fair. :-)

Mika is the pot calling the kettle black. My Grandma says that married women shouldn’t take gifts from men that are not her husband. (Donny D.) She not only took the $1000,00 SHOES, but wore them in a photo shot. The photo shoot is of Mika, Joe, Willie. They took pictures of the back of just Mikas calfs with THE SHOES on. What was that about, and on a morning show! They also took pictures in a bar with Mika giving Joe that adoring stare, like she does on the show. It’s enough to make you puke. We often wonder what poor Joes wife is thinking. Then there’s Mika and Joe in their private car. WOW Not to mention Mikas houseband. I think Mikas photo shoot is a little RIELLESK! Mika should be careful walking in those shoes, we wouldn’t want her to fall down the stairs or off her high horse! BTY, if parents don’t like what their children are watching, they can put their children first and not their jobs… like Mika did. LOL
