Rachel Maddow On “Osama Bin Giuliani” And Liz Cheney’s “Al Qaeda 7″

video

This might be Rachel Maddow at her most Rachel Maddow-iest, so make sure you write down tonight in your e-planner or whatever for the date when our favorite MSNBC host went supernova on Liz Cheney‘s “Keep America Safe” campaign.

You know, not going anywhere near the MSNBC studios may be the smartest thing Liz Cheney’s ever done…

Campaign of Fear” is right. The people on the right would just assume any person identified as a “terrorist suspect” be denied the right of representation.

  • Olby Sucks

We should just turn them all loose so they can get promotions and become Taliban Captains……

Rachel was hilarious tonight. She was crazy, parinoid, and way over the top in fear mongering in a kind of six degrees of separation display. I instantly recognized Glen Beck. I imagine that this is what it’s like for those who watch him every day minus the chalkboard. It was absolutely ridiculous and so is Liz Cheney. She’s been discredited several times by Rachel which is also why she won’t go on Maddow’s show. It’s because she know that Rachel would call her out on her bullshit where fox, cnn and abc don’t. Which says a lot about them. You go Rachel!

  • roxsteady

    That’s paranoid!

Liz Cheney along with her father should just shut up. They make a fool of themselves every time they open their mouths.

Does that mean she’s lying, or just ignoring pertinent evidence? Of course, this is coming from Drew… who still hasn’t corrected the lie from earlier in the week… so who knows.

Really?! This is the closest thing we’ve gotten to honesty around here in quite a while! Nice job!

Of course, we already knew that… Mediaite writes a fluff piece about Maddow almost daily. You’d have to be blind… or Colby Hall to deny that.

But seriously, Drew… since you seem to be the only one capable of saying what we all already know, will you PLEASE just come out with it and say, “Mediaite is a left-of-center media and politics site.” Just one little sentence on the “About” page, and we can all move on.

Do you ever ask Dollar over at his Dump those questions? Of course you don’t, because you know you’d be banned. Did you ever think of paying the host of another site the same willingfull respect you pay to Dollar?

Once again Madcow reveals her hypocrisy and idiocy. However I need to give credit where credit is due, she is consistent in her very own “campaign of fear” against any idea, any person, any political thinking, that isn’t congruent with her leftist thinking.

Joe McCarthy is alive and well and evidently a hero to people like Liz Cheney, Bill Kristol, Glenn Beck and the usual bunch. Thankfully, I think most people are smart enough to see this for the smear that it is. Glenn Greenwald has a good piece on Cheney, et al on Salon.

By the way, what makes her an expert on anything?

    The Real John T:

I do think Liz is beginning to suffer from over-exposure, and her last couple of pronouncements have been shot down by other Republicans. If I were advising Ms. Cheney, I would say keep a low profile for a bit. Personally, I hope she continues making an utter fool of herself.

    Jeff Merrill:

You must simply love living in knee-knocking, urine-puddling fear. It always amazes me that we have a small group of Americans (one which rose in membership during the Rove Fear-Peddling Reign, but now seems back to its small size) who like to be fearful. For the life of me, I see nothing in that other than anxiety and a desperate desire to hold onto low self-esteem.

    Ted:

The McCarthy reference is timely. While I do feel we must always remain vigilant about a neo-McCarthyism movement, I tend to agree most Americans are far stronger than the cowardly group whose answer to every problem in America can be found in the Gospel According to Tail-Gunner Joe.

If only Rachel had been that concerned about due process when John Murtha was accusing Marines of murder.

  • The Real Royal King

Actually, the due process requirement is one imposed upon the federales, via Amendment V, and the states, via Amendment XIV. It is not a requirement imposed upon citizens or residents.

  • Jim R

One of the bedrock principles in this nation of laws is supposed to be the right to a speedy trial and a vigorous defense. Defense attorneys rigorously test the evidence presented by the state and the jury decides the verdict, where doing so is the attorney’s obligation under the law and not the means for political advocates of a particular issue to attack their patriotism.

That the Supreme Court concurred with their efforts means nothing to extremists on the right anxious to weed out those undeserving of due process.

That this is one of the most vicious, anti-American attacks ever conceived is beyond question, as is the media’s reluctance to report it as exactly that. More troubling are the longer term consequences on our democratic principles as this nation seeks to shed ourselves of the great shame of the last administration’s attack on the rule of law and the Constitution.

That representatives of the Bush blight on our founding principles would continue propounding their pernicious fascism with impudence says wonderful things about the concept of Freedom Of Speech, but not so wonderful things about the sick philosophy of those perpetrating it, or for that matter the ability of our vaunted judicial system to punish those most bent on destroying the rule of law.

The right has truly lost its mind.

  • Jim R

And no, The Constitution’s protections are not restricted only to citizens and we don’t have the right under it or The Geneva Conventions to unilaterally decide who does qualify.

  • The Real Royal King

Thank you for those very sound and well-written posts, Jim. I am in complete agreement, and I am greatly impressed with your follow-up. I have had more rightists argue with me that the Bill of Rights applies only to citizens. Our drafters were very careful to distinguish among “citizens”, “people” and “residents”. Our strict constructionist friends rather liberally use these as synonyms.

Why would I need to ask Dollar those questions? Dollar’s view is obvious… the site is clearly labeled an “FNC fan & Cable News” site. In fact, I’m asking Mediaite to do just as Dollar has done, and indentify their slant! Should I take this as you AGREEING with me?
