Ronny Jackson Denies New Allegation That He Wrecked a Car While Drunk

Dr. Ronny L. Jackson, the White House physician President Donald Trump nominated to head the Veterans Affairs administration, is facing blowback over newfound reports detailing his alleged misconduct as the head of the White House medical unit under multiple presidents.

A New York Times story published Wednesday afternoon shed light on a new report from the Democratic office staff of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, which included numerous accounts of Jackson being drunk, as well as handing out medicine aboard Air Force One without any prescription. The physician immediately denied one specific salacious detail included in the NYT piece: “at a Secret Service going away party, the doctor got intoxicated and ‘wrecked a government vehicle,’ according to the summary.”

“I never wrecked a car,” Jackson told reporters on Wednesday, according to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. “I have no idea where that is coming from.”

The report goes on to list examples of a hostile work environment in the White House medical unit under Jackson, with numerous staff describing the head physician as “toxic,” “abusive” and “hostile.” In one event, Jackson reportedly could not be reached because he was “passed out drunk in his hotel room.”

Jackson added on Wednesday his nomination is “moving ahead as planned,” despite the numerous allegations against him continued to emerge. It remains unclear whether the physician will receive enough support among the Senate to head the Veterans Affairs administration — one of the largest federal agencies in terms of both employment and funding.
