According to Elinor, Roger’s mother tried to block her path by using a cane. Upon repeated viewing of the video clip, it does appear that Elinor has trouble getting out of the aisle. Apparently this all stems from a falling out Elinor and Roger had over the production of the film. They weren’t even on speaking on terms.

What a classless act this Burkett is. She removes herself from the movie, disowns the movie, disparages the movie even, and then this. This had little to do with “Prudence” but is all about her own gigantic ego and selfish, selfish pride. Her argument; “She discovered the band before he did. She brought him to Zimbabwe. She is a Pulitzer-prize winning exploitative journalist. Only she cares about these kids!” Obviously her behavior was all in aid of the crippled of Zimbabwe. I’m sure they appreciate her heroic efforts on their behalf last night.

Despite her “drunken” antics Roger Ross Williams behaved with a quiet if not stunned dignity despite this crass woman’s demand he “let the woman talk”. Was this a moment that only her crazed, demented feminist-journo credentials could bring dignity to?

Her spiteful “woman scorned” shtick stole this up and coming South Carolinian director’s crowning moment, a moment that would have brought attention to the outstanding talents of Prudence and those who find themselves in similar challenges.

What next for La Burkett? I have no doubt she will be called upon as an ambassador for the Special Olympics.

Why wouldn’t she be allowed to the stage? She was the film’s producer and her name was called as the winner along with his. As a resident of Zimbabwe, the band was her discovery and the film was her concept. She recruited Roger as director. He told me so himself. Obviously he was misquoted — or he has begun to misstate his role in the film. They were sitting next to each other. Why on earth didn’t he wait for her to reach the stage, as every other winning team did?

Williams was able to begin his speech and did not finish it because he was interrupted. Burkett quit the project but she gets to tell her ENTIRE speech. The Oscars only want 1 speaker. Like the group that won THE COVE, best documentary. They also rushed to the stage and only one got to speak. Because that’s the rule. She broke the rule. She did not let Williams finish his speech. Yet Williams worked rather hard to finish the film.
