Wow, Jon! There’s so much misinformation in your short post, I don’t even know where to begin.

First of all, newspapers don’t have “covers” … they have front pages.

Secondly, it’s not an “accident” – as you put it – when two newspapers…or 5 or 25 newspapers use the same photo. It’s called photo editing. Photo editors decide to use a photo over another based on the merits of the photo. The possibility that another newspaper may use it doesn’t factor into the decision.

Lastly, you imply that the photographer made more money because it was used in both papers.  Do you know ANYTHING about the media? The image was supplied by the Reuters wire service which pays photographers a day rate. The photographer gets the same rate no matter how many newspapers use the image.

Anyway, why hasn’t faux newz caught onto how mother nature keeps sheeting on states with republican governors…  wild fires, droughts, earthquakes, hurricanes… all happening in states with repugnantone control of the executive branch. Nice of her to downgrade Irene to tropical storm just as it hit NY. You guys need your paranoid loon and his chalkboard back to keep you up-to-speed on why god does these things.

Why do you think this is so unusual? It happens all the time, and even more frequently now that news organizations have pared down their photo staffs.
