Worlds Collide: Jenna Bush Hager Interviews Bill Clinton

While former President Bill Clinton has been showing up all over the news this past week to discuss violent rhetoric, most of his time recently has been spent working on his many philanthropic endeavors. Over the past few years, he’s started numerous charities and appeared on TV to support them, typically while flanked by a member of the Bush family. However, since he’s run out of presidential Bushes, this morning he chose to join the one who’s a correspondent for the Today Show: Jenna Bush Hager. The youngest Bush (by a few minutes) talked to him about the Clinton Global Initiative and continuing relief efforts in Haiti during an interview that was one part informative and two parts awkward.

The producers of the Today knew that the big interest here was seeing members of America’s premiere families meet so, before the real conversation gets underway, they give us a few seconds of forced niceties between interviewer and subject. Which is by turns weird and awkward. The whole thing feels like the uncomfortable dialogue between a college student home for Christmas and her mom’s book club friend that she ran into at the grocery store. Fortunately, the social train wreck ends quickly and we get down to a clearly knowledgeable Clinton discussing the many issues in Haiti post-earthquake.

However, the most interesting part of the talk may come at the end, when Bush Hager segues into asking Clinton about the preparations for his daughter’s wedding. We say this is the most interesting part mostly because we’re hoping that it’s just a tease for an upcoming interview between Chealsea Clinton and George W. Bush. Come on, Today Show, hook it up!

After hearing “George W. Bush is dumb” jokes for more than a decade, I’m finally convinced. Bush is an idiot. No intelligent man would ever let his daughter anywhere near Bill Clinton.

  • The Real Royal King

While I am glad you are at long last convinced, I think Jenna could easily make President Clinton blush.

  • Jon Bershad

AnonymousFinch, that is nearly word for word the way I was originally going to end this post.

  • TylerDurden

Clinton heard the word “bush” and jumped at it.

I thought the whole thing was sweet and I enjoy seeing the Bushes and Clintons getting along so well.

Did Slick Willie offer her a cigar?

  • RichS

trrt makes his statement, “I think Jenna could easily make President Clinton blush.” based on nothing but his usual left wing bias. What makes you think that Jenna Bush has done worse that this exPresident who had sexual relations with a young intern in the Whitehouse? Trrk, you see, when it comes to President Clinton, we know what he did, and now, thanks to your above statement, we know what you fantasize about when you think about, at least, one of President Bush’s daughters.

Should we start or end with her acohol convictions or her nude romp through the hotel lobby in Buenos Aires?

Yes, those alleged events really compare with alleged rape. Very close indeed.

    Oh wait… nevermind.

  • RichS

TRRK, yes, start there. ImNotBlue refers to an alleged rape. There was a lot more documented for Bill.

As for Jenna, oh my, she drank! And a tabloid, unless you have another source, runs a story about her streaking in a hotel! Oh my.

Since you are so convinced about her lack of moral character, you must believe that Bill Clinton should be behind bar for rape! Unless, of course, you are intellectually dishonest.

  • RichS

HAHAHAHA, that should be “behind bars” as I’m sure Bill spends a lot of time behind a bar.
