Blast From The Past: Chris Farley’s Gingrich Impersonation At ’95 House Republican Conference
Back in 1995, SNL cast member and national treasure Chris Farley performed an impression of then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich, also a national treasure, at the House Republican Conference. As in, like, right in front of Speaker Gingrich. A gutsy move, to be sure, but one that paid off beautifully.
A couple of observations: Newt Gingrich has not aged at all since 1995. It’s almost terrifying, as if he has a horrifying, blood-curdling, decomposing portrait hidden away in some attic somewhere. Also, he seems positively delighted with Farley’s performance.
