Blast From The Past: Chris Farley’s Gingrich Impersonation At ’95 House Republican Conference

Video

Back in 1995, SNL cast member and national treasure Chris Farley performed an impression of then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich, also a national treasure, at the House Republican Conference. As in, like, right in front of Speaker Gingrich. A gutsy move, to be sure, but one that paid off beautifully.

A couple of observations: Newt Gingrich has not aged at all since 1995. It’s almost terrifying, as if he has a horrifying, blood-curdling, decomposing portrait hidden away in some attic somewhere. Also, he seems positively delighted with Farley’s performance.

Who’d have ever imagined politics could be so much fun? Must be the lack of weirdo Democrats.

Dammit Farley why couldn’t you just lay off the blow. Freaking Genius.

Pretty funny stuff. Wish they would’ve sent Obama back to Kenya.

    I’m a total dumbass.

Sounds like you’re jealous, lib? Maybe your mom called.

Obama is a socialist who wrecked the economy. Libs are too busy waxing their legs to know. But here’s a fact:

I’m actually a dumbass, son. How you like me now?

    lol wut?

The friggin rinos of the belt way are acting against Newt like the occupiers to the bankers while the democrats are acting like Saturday Night Live. It’s hilarious. But I wish they’d stop for the holidays…

Chris Farley died much too young, Gingrich, not so much.

Farley is greatly missed.  My two absolute favorites are the motivaional speaker and his Chippendales routines with Patrick Swayze.  Oh my gosh, it doesn’t get funnier than that.

Why do you libs always feel the need to wish death on those who disagree with you?  It’s sad.

Seriously, we feel bad for Farley. Just leave it at that.

The teabaggers that have “just been awoken” to politics, have no idea who Newt Gingrich really is besides post 2008 Foxnews appearances.

They truly are in for an awakening…

Interesting that future Speaker Boner did the intro.

I’m as confused as you are. Their Pavlovian habit of going into a batshit insane rant over lib’ruls for no apparent reason is truly sad.

I agree with you on this one but I don’t think this is limited to liberals, but in your world I guess it is.

SNL has lost a couple of incredibly funny comics to drug overdose, you’d think they’d have learned to get these folks into rehab.

Farley was truly funny and also incredibly likable on-screen.

given the writer uses this as an opportunity to oddly  attack Gingrich with “t’s almost terrifying, as if he has a horrifying, blood-curdling, decomposing portrait hidden away in some attic somewhere”.

So, I can understand that comments might similarly take a seemingly odd angle,

I wouldn’t worry.  Since mediaite has decided to make the site a near-constant opportunity to attack conservatives, I’m sure at some point those of us not far-left of center will give up.  For now, some of us still think writers like Matt and Glynnis will be added to bring back some more viewpoints.

    you’re kind of sick.

Farley died of a heroine overdose, a preventable and very sad choice and death.  He was magnificent though in such a short career.

Do the newly awoken “FleaBaggers” have any idea who Obama was prior to 2008?…especially when you all voted for him?

  • Anonymous

You never even heard of the incompetent and undocumented community organizer pre-2008 election!!!

You blindly looked past all of Oblamers radical acquaintances and now you want to talk morals?

You sir…..might need to lay off the blow as well.

I liked Chris…It’s a shame he died….it should have been Obama….and you if you voted for him.

The post above was brought to you by the party that doesn’t buy into victim mentality.

Your tears… they’re the sugar to my coffee.
