James Carville: Trump Got Out When He Realized ‘He Was Making A Fool Of Himself’

Video

Democratic political strategist James Carville stopped by GMA this morning and told George Stephanopoulos that he found it amazing Arnold Schwarzenegger would have entered politics and subjected himself to the scrutiny knowing he had fathered a love child. Moving from “tragedy to comedy,” Carville then addressed Donald Trump.

Stephanopoulos wondered “was everyone punked by Donald Trump?” Yet unlike some who believe most journalists should be ashamed for taking Trump seriously, Carville was quick to give the press high marks:

“I think the press actually did a good job – and particularly Good Morning America – about getting Trump out there. This guy got out because he realized, rather late, that he was making a fool of himself. And that’s what the political system does.”

With Mike Huckabee and Trump gone, Carville sees a populist void left open in the Republican field that maybe only Congresswoman Michele Bachmann could fill. Yet what Carville seemed to enjoy most was that clearly the best Republican candidate was not going to run, saying about former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, “on paper I’ve never seen a stronger candidate but he’s obviously got the legacy issue.”

Now if only Obama would recognize he is making a fool out of himself.

Just look at this left wing jackass has been. Actually having the Viagra driven balls to even speak about Donald Trump is so telling of the state of the democrat party (s) so over today.

Too late, he is now seen as a joke.

    James got that right.

He’s also right about Jebbers. Jebbers could have been the strongest Republican candidate in a generation, but the W stain is deep and stubborn. We elected the wrong Bush (Actually, we didn’t elect him, did we?), and the right Bush is not available.

  • Probably NOT wrong

I hate to tell you this, if we had elected Gore (the winner of the popular vote), we wouldn’t have elected a Bush. You see, Gore is a Gore, Bush is a Bush.

I didn’t think she lost her vision until her tragically botched cosmetic surgery that made her look remarkably like Jiang Qing. Why she used Greta O’Van Susteren’s plastic surgeon, I cannot begin to imagine.

  • valkyrie101

Trump has no problem making a fool of himself, especially if money is involved.

No, it’s not. In our odd system, it is perfectly permissible for the popular vote winner to be denied office. Not the first time it has happened.

I think Obama probably is feeling pretty proud of himself for the Bin Laden killing. It’s how he handled it afterwards that’s got him feeling like a fool.

The only problem with Carville’s analysis is that it presupposes Trump would recognize that he was making a fool of himself. From past performance, I would highly question such a level of self-awareness from Trump.

If he had not been visiting those 58 states he might have got him faster. Maybe he thought bin Laden was clinging to his gun and Bible? Obama wanted to make sure bin Laden had signed up for ObamaCare before he killed him.

    It’s off-topic for this post, but the actual quote excerpt could’ve described bin Laden;

it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations

As for the concept of Jeb Bush, his name has been floated around (often by Democrats) and not only does he have a resume, but he could also make play on the “it takes a Bush” idea. If only he wasn’t the third member of his immediate family in less than three decades and was more palatable to the Tea Party wing.

Son, my poor son, it would have been unconstitutional to award the election to Gore based on the popular vote without his winning in the electoral college.

    Who was the bigger fool…

Trump, who got more free publicity in the last two months than any person on the planet

    or

The liberal-tilting media, who devoted more coverage to Trump than to any other news story this year, engaging in a crazed feeding frenzy to score negligible gotcha points on an easy target. In other words, more of the usual. Even Osama bin Laden’s removal didn’t get half the stories on Mediaite as the Trump circus.

Yes, someone does look pretty foolish here, I will agree that far with Mr. Carville….
