Joe Scarborough: Sarah Palin ‘Doesn’t Listen To People, Michele Bachmann Does’

Video

The Morning Joe panel agreed Congresswoman Michele Bachmann had a successful presidential announcement yesterday, due in large part to her new “trainer” veteran campaign strategist Ed Rollins. Joe Scarborough found Bachmann’s transformation particularly surprising and compared Bachmann to both Ronald Reagan and Mike Tyson in his assessment that unlike Sarah Palin, Bachmann is now a very serious candidate for President.

Scarborough thought Bachmann was smartly taking a page from Reagan’s playbook saying “when you’re insulted, when people call you stupid . . . you just pray you’ll be underestimated by the mainstream media. Reagan snuck up on them.” And commenting on Rollins’ contribution to the Bachmann package, Scarborough concluded:

“When she doesn’t have the trainer in the corner she swings wildly, like Mike Tyson in later years. But with the right team and with her talent, she’s going to give Mitt Romney a run for his money.”

Bachmann’s seriousness and success was in complete contrast to Palin, according to Scarborough. He thought Palin “obviously can’t love what’s happening with Michele Bachmann.” Yet if Palin surrounded herself with professional handlers, like Bachmann did, “to stop her from doing self-destructive things” then Scarborough thought Palin could have been serious too. Instead, Scarborough believes the Palin and Bachmann paths are different as Palin continues to ignore the advice of even people like Roger Ailes, because “she doesn’t listen to people. Michele Bachmann does.”

Scarborough is on the money there.

Palin’s stubborn streak and narcissism are her fatal flaws.

  • TangledThorns

Joe is playing the MSNBC game of trying to pit Bachmann against Palin. Nice try, Joe.

  • Just4thefax

Fact: Sarah could care less what the D-bagger bunch want her to say. Keep up the constant crying game MSMBC.

Joe is just like Weiner, he should just shut up.

Is Mika sucking a lemon or smelling a fart?

Joe Scaborough does not listen to people, that’s why his rating at MSNBC sucks, and will continue to suck as he continue to refuse listening to people.

  • ChrisNH

Quite funny that a media hack–whose sole purpose in life is to disgorge streams of random, disjointed thought and opinion–would try to declare that someone ELSE ‘doesn’t listen to people.’

Ms. Palin’s vice presidential campaign created some interest and caught some attention. However, it was a terribly flawed effort. And, it had consequences. Her presence on the ticket seems not to have won Pennsylvania, Ohio and some other key states that the McCain campaign felt, I think foolishly, were in play. And, Palin’s presence increased President Obama’s margin in Florida and likely sealed his carrying North Carolina, Virginia and Indiana. But, because of the potential seen, Palin’s most ardent fans amongst the professional politicos, Barnes, Buchanan, Kristol and the like urged her to tend to business at home. Rack up accomplishments in government. Bone up on policy, history, current events, take some speech and diction lessons. She did none of this. Whether it’s an aversion to hard work, an inability to focus or as Cecelia suggests, a stubborn streak, I don’t know. But a focused, motivated and tireless worker like Bachmann, who, let’s face it, is no Lincoln, Roosevelt or even Eisenhower, is a much more credible candidate that Palin is. And, although libruls and the Lame Stream Media will be blamed, the fault is wholly Palin’s.

I really did try to watch it, I just can’t. Mourning Joe makes me physically sick.

What did Palin do that would indicate that she doesn’t listen to people?

Neither is Obama. In fact, his presidency is quickly becoming a bad joke, a la Jimmy Carter.

“Michele Bachmann had a successful presidential announcement yesterday, due in large part to her new “trainer” veteran campaign strategist Ed Rollins.”

Bachmann’s newly installed political team has had its own battles with message discipline — typified by campaign manager Ed Rollins’ recent comments alleging that former Alaska governor Sarah Palin hasn’t been “serious” over the last few years.

After the incident, Bachmann was “very firm” with Rollins, according to an adviser to the congresswoman, telling him this should not happen again and that there should be “no more press”. Bachmann also demanded that Rollins call the Palin people and apologize. “She is definitely not tone deaf,” the source added.

It appears that Ms. Bachmann is “training” Mr. Rollins.

Bachman has always had her law degree and her PHD in federal tax law, but the media falsely pretended she was just a simple politician. The media, as we all know by now, is simply a ‘follow’ the leader’ mentality with some exceptions. Every branding effort needs great management, sounds like Bachmann has that in place now. She will be formidable.

If the economic numbers are as bleak as expected, Obama has no chance for re-election. Bernake’s fed projection was for continued high unemployment through 2014, I believe. Add part-time and ‘not bothering to look’ and you’re much higher. In those conditions, any republican wins in 2014….

Because the media arrogantly believes they know what’s best. If Palin intends to run(and who outside of herself and her family even knows at this point?), she’s doing it unconventionally with the bus tour, documentary feature, and social networking. She’s not sucking up to the GOP establishment and hiring Beltway insiders like Ed Rollins.

But the media also made all sorts of predictions about Palin 2 years ago when she resigned from office. They labeled her as finished. They also wrote off the Tea Party. And let’s not get into all the laughable praise and hype bestowed upon one Barack Hussein Obama. Yet here we are in late June 2011 with the GOP having won back the House in a historic landslide in the midterms, the Tea Party is still going strong and looking to be a major determining factor in who the 2012 Republican nominee will be, and Obama is shaping up to be the worst President in modern history.

The real question is why would anyone in their right mind listen to a single thing these people have to say? If anything, I’d employ the Constanza approach. Whatever the media tells you, do the exact opposite.

No. She doesn’t have a PhD. She has a JD, the standard degree from most law schools. From Oral Roberts. The school shut down when she graduated. Anita Hill taught at Oral Roberts. She received an LL.M from William and Mary in a tax law specialty. I don’t diminish this accomplishment, but let’s be honest about the resume. Amongst those who have attended law school, this is not exactly over-whelming. Far more impressive than Palin, of course.

“Someone” requires a singular pronoun, “his”, “her” or “his or her”. “Her” seems most appropriate here.

With all the talk about Fox and MSNBC, they are afterall only one network each, and while it can be stipulated that one leans right and the other is only left, the real issue is the left/Obama bias of ALL the rest of the mainstream media. As evidence after evidence piles up, they themselves do not directly answer the evidence, instead issuing broad denials, bringing up Fox, and attacking the messenger.

The latest example is this clip from Letterman- John Wayne IS from a neighboring Iowa town and his parents ARE from Waterloo, and even the Morning Joe crew all were agreeing you would have to be pretty zealous and small to try to make an issue out of what they called this “zip code” error. Nevertheless, there is Letterman on national television trying to pounce on this “gaffe right out of the gate”, graciously acknowledging that this alone will not be enough to “sink her campaign”. Obama talking about CORPSEmen or saying we have 57 states? Crickets.

You are most certainly attempting to diminish what is an advanced law degree from a prestigious school.

And don’t reference me in any of your posts again. It’s discrediting.

Her boss Ailes told her to not say anything, let it blow over. She of course didn’t listen and made it all about her (blood libel for crissakes) and of course she came out looking terrible, justifiably so.

First, very funny. Second, I’m not sure of intent, but a law degree simply prepares someone to be a lawyer. I never understand comparing programs. Yes, if you go to one of the elites, then the person had great LSAT and grades to get in. Other than that it’s what you do with it that matters.

She earned her JD then added her specialized LLM in tax law. I did assume PHD when it was an LLM.

Has this moron ever MET Palin or Bachmann?
