‘Wow!’: Joe Scarborough Cracks Up as Reporter at GOP Midterm Convention Lists All of Event’s Trump-Centric Signage
MS NOW’s Joe Scarborough couldn’t help but crack up as reporter Vaughn Hillyard ran through how central President Donald Trump’s image is to the GOP midterm convention in Dallas.
On Wednesday’s Morning Joe, Hillyard reported from the Dallas event. He noted that though many Republican lawmakers are attending the event in the hopes of building support for their races, one would assume it’s all about Trump because his image is everywhere, including on the lanyards for the event.
Hillyard reported:
This is more than just a political campaign event. This is an administration event coming off the heels of of an increase in tension in Iran, of the rise in gas prices, of inflation and food and domestic prices continuing to remain high as the president escalates his trade war with Canada. But I just got to tell you guys, walking into this arena here in the heart of Dallas here this morning, you don’t see pictures of Mike Rogers lining the concourse that folks, that thousands of folks are going to be walking past, you see an image of Donald Trump, an image of Donald Trump, an image of Donald Trump. And our credentials here, everybody’s got different pictures of Donald Trump. And so it’s more of a Donald Trump show than it is any of these House or Senate candidates.
“Like Liberace!” a laughing Scarborough said as Hillyard broke down the signage at the event.
He followed up with a “Wow!” as he took some jabs at Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who will be one of the speakers at the convention.
“Bessent?! What’s he going to do tonight? Give a speech attacking Lichtenstein, right? Or maybe Luxembourg…’I almost beat him up,'” Scarborough said, laughing and referring to Bessent claiming he nearly got into a physical altercation with White House official Bill Pulte.
