MSNBC’s Martin Bashir Displays His Green Card On Air To Quiet Angry Critics

video

In a truly bizarre segment on MSNBC, Martin Bashir (who earlier in the week suggested that Sarah Palin‘s bus tour might be in violation of federal law for its use of the American flag) said he’d been swamped with “angry and anonymous” emails, phone calls and messages–some from people who apparently had questions about the Brit’s legal status in the U.S., saying “in quite colorful terms,” Bashir said, that he’s “an illegal immigrant who they plan to report…so that I can be deported as a matter of urgency.”

To address those concerns, Bashir took the extraordinary step of displaying his green card and saying “I am, in fact, a legal, permanent resident of the United States…and I’m well on my way to becoming a citizen of this great country.”

The segment that inflamed some viewers aired Tuesday, when Bashir questioned the motives of Palin’s bus tour, and said:

“In fact, the whole thing could be in breach of a federal law because the United States Flag Code establishes important rules for the use and display of the stars and stripes, the flag of the United States.”

Watch it here, from MSNBC:

“In a truly bizarre segment on MSNBC”

Nearly all the segments on MSNBC are bizarre, they cater to a small niche audience.

  • TfT

And the hypocricy of it all – MSNBC uses the American flag in lots of it’s own adverts. I forgot which site it was that put up all the MSNBC’s “illegal” use of the flag, and yet Martin had no problem with them doing it, just Sarah.

It was humorous and oh so typical. What the left does is a-ok, what the right does is NEVER ok as far as NBC/MSNBC is concerned.

BriWi must be so happy with his colleagues, Martin, Chris, The Rev Al, etc.

Most people, even those who follow the news pretty closely, have no idea who Martin Bashir is. Yet, here he is showing his audience his green card. Nobody cares. If anyone has ever heard of you, it’s prolly because you once interviewed Michael Jackson. It must be standard operating procedure at MSNBC to try & create controversies in order to get people to notice you. It won’t be long until they hire a bearded woman or a sword swallower to tell everybody just how evil conservatives are.

  • tatboy

What does his green card have to do with him being a giat douche> Or is it turd sandwhich… I forget.

  • turk281

Martin Bashir: I do not believe you have a penis. Please address this issue on air by next week. If the censors get to you please twitter me a DM with the hashtag #WeinerYes and upload it to your Yfrog.

    Thank you in advance.

first KO shows his college degree, now this? lordie.

maybe he’ll think twice before running completely useless false hit pieces in the future.

did it ever occur to him that his minions (the dozens that watch his show) probably swamped Sarah Palin with “angry and anonymous” emails, phone calls and messages, accusing her of violating flag law?

His network has done nothing but ridicule and run hit pieces on her for years. She has received more than her share of hatemail from msnbc followers.

I think people were more annoyed at the hypocrisy of an MSNBC personality manufacturing outrage against Palin, when MSNBC regularly uses the US flag in order to advertise and make money. Reason TV did a great job of demonstrating this:

Perhaps he got all the angry mail because he went on National t.v. and stated that what Palin was doing was illegal. Since he felt he had the right to do that, and being completely wrong – perhaps he deserved a smack down. Then to compound his “ignorant” biased lying behaviour, he didn’t apologize for his erroneous reporting but tried to give another slam which the weak thinkers among us seem to have embraced. Again, a simple apology from Martin would have sufficed. He deserves a lot more angry letters.

So Martin Bashir says America is a great country, but does he mean it? After all, Marxist Martin doesn’t like the Second Amendment, supports gun control, opposes free speech i.e. hate speech, supports Obamacare, supports high taxes, supports socialism, and like his friend Zakaria, probably thinks we need to forget about our founding fathers. Now, he may have a greencard, and maybe someday he’ll become a citizen, the question is, why become a citizen of a country you don’t like? After all, America is more than New York, LA, San Francisco, Chicago and Miami. This is a big country and unlike the liberal elite he drinks with, most of us are center right.

I am quite happy to hear that Martin Bashir loves this country and is working toward citizenship. It honestly does warm my heart to hear that. And I am as disgusted with the people who called him an illegal alien or an undocumented worker as I am with the people who taunt Michelle Malkin by saying, “I love you long time,” and calling her an “anchor baby”.

But none of that makes him any less ridiculous for saying Palin’s bus is a violation of federal law because its paint job evokes the American flag. Seriously that’s one of the stupidest things an MSNBC host has said in a long time, and it’s not like there’s scarce competition.

By misinforming? He says by using the American Flag in ways of making money is a “breach of federal law”, but his OWN network, MSNBC did it during the 2008 and 2010 elections. So when a Conservative does it, it must mean a breach of federal law, but when the network he WORKS for does it, it must mean, it’s perfectly fine. Hypocrite.

Thank you Adolph, for that enlightened insight to xenophobia.

Actually, that would be all the little lefties who that want all the righties rounded up, put in camps and shot. Or have you not been paying attention to the left’s posts on various sites over the past few months?

Frankly, I tire of the constant attacks upon Palin. Doesn’t show the balanced view that I think I read about on the article on moderating. One would think that whoever chooses these articles has a political agenda.

Sara! I so enjoyed your site. Very similar interests (except I knit 24/7 have a room full of ufo’s! You went to a fair bit of trouble to show Martin’s complete lack of knowledge regarding the flag. I think Palin’s bus is awesome and a testament to how strongly she feels about her Country and the pride she has in our Country. What a shame the left doesn’t give her cudos for that. The constant brickbats are so old and so lame.

Actually no, they migrated here too. What do you think, that Indians just sprouted from the American soil?

Yep, crossed the Bering Strait land bridge it would seem.
Anthropology in this area is fascinating……to see how/where inhabitants of a land mass come originate.

Recently saw an episode on History Channel that various nations got early footholds in the America’s (including North America) long before the Native Americans or Christopher C. did. (No comments, please: I’m part Cherokee.) Notably, Pacific Islanders and the Ainu people of northeast Asia, (The light-skinned Ainu are the original inhabitants of Japan, and have been persecuted and driven into the mountains to survive.) Much like the original Indians that were the original inhabitants of Mexico and are still looked upon as second-class citizens and discriminated against.

“Twentieth Century textbooks agreed on the hypothesis that hunter-gatherers migrated across the hypothetical Bering Strait land bridge. While some still adhere to this hypothesis, other scientists speculate that there were numerous waves of migration to the Americas. Variant races discovered among ancient skeletal remains support this theory. Kennewick Man was an individual representative of one of the multiple races that roamed America in antiquity. Evidence of other migrations to America exists in The Fuegians, a people indigenous to the furthest point in the Americas from the Bering Straights
    – Tierra del Fuego.”

Immature journalism IMHO. Ruins any chances of new converts, or swaying of thought. Actually quite boring.

bashir is PROOF that America must reform it’s immigration rules to KEEP OUT such undesirables.
Let’s hope that the great state of Arizona, the leader in REAL immigration reform in America, acts on this as soon as possible.

People, do some basic research. Martin Bashir is a thoroughly discredited journalist from Britain. He was fired from the ABC News prime time network program Nightline and demoted to mid-afternoon hack at cable MSNBC.

Bashir couldn’t return to Britain even if he wanted to. He’s one of Britain’s most hated television personalities, as indicated by a poll taken by British television station Channel 4 in 2003.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_Worst_Britons

Bashir had to come to the U.S. because no other country would hire him. It appears he wasn’t thoroughly vetted by Phil Griffin (president of MSNBC) nor ABC prior to crossing the Atlantic to be part of Nightline.

People think Andrew Breitbart did a terrible thing re the Shirley Sherrod fiasco, but fewer people are aware of Bashir’s horrific hatchet job on Michael Jackson in 1993. You can view the two sets of footage side by side at this site. Clearly, Bashir is an unethical journalist of the lowest order.

Unfortunately, it’s not likely Bashir will be deported. Equally unfortunate, there are no laws to protect the public from unethical journalism. Hopefully, however, he will be denied citizenship based on having no job–if media outlets will ever take their heads out of their collective butts and stop offering him positions in their companies!

Correction: Bashir’s mockumentary was produced in 2003 for Granada Televsion. The Executive Producer was fellow Brit/conspirator James Goldston.

Mediate has their nose stuck so far up MSNBC ass, they have to show the stupid “LEAN all the way FORWARD and spread them” adds. suck ups.

LOL! I have my own personal troll that gives thumbs down even on factual information taken from an anthropology site. What does that say about the…….what do you call it……….”intellectual” ability to participate in an informed and honest debate or discussion? LOL!

Threats to Bashir, no, not from all of these informed, fine christian, non-hate filled “teas”! Keep the hate and spin alive!

    Threats?

So, you are saying this type of reaction is wrong?

If so, I suggest you read some of the comments on this forum about……….Palin.

    And, errrrrr……..here: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20028458-503544.html

Let me guess. Democrats and liberals never said that they run on a platform that condemns death threat?

    …………………………………………………….
The threats were to turn him in for something invalid. I don’t see where we went to death threats. The point was these wonder moral values over false issues. These Palin threats from a “tea bubble” site, very much in question and many disproven. You want to be awarded a few to close this out, ok. The liberal platform of condemning threats, about 10 times over. At least pick something we haven’t done shows about! Condemned all the way and waiting for the stomping and the guns at hate rallies to not show up in the future! By any means necessary…ohhhhh!

  • Hellsbells

America you are welcome to him. Mr. Bashir has made a career specializing in editorial slander. You only have to look at his checkered past in the UK and the views of his peer group to understand the extent of Mr. Bashir’s deception .Mr. Bashir’s specialty is manipulating the words of his interview subjects and setting up situations to portray his subjects in whatever light he wants. You only have to look at some of his recent interviews to witness this. If I was an American I would be doing everything in my power to change the constitution to “clear the air” of such unethical journalists such as Mr. Bashir. The phrase who lets the dogs in comes to mind !

  • Cancon2

I bet he still looks over his shoulder for Tito.

  • ChrisB

It doesn’t matter to me if Bashir has a green, blue, red, yellow or orange card. He is a total creep who makes up stuff just to stir controversy and drag out his time in front of the public. I wish he would just go back under the rock he crawled out from and spare us all his drivel. None of it is believable anyway.
