Stephen Colbert Admonishes CNN’s Don Lemon For Ignoring Guest’s Vampire Fangs

When suburban Philadelphia resident Patrick Rodgers discovered that his bank had charged him for mortgage payments not agreed upon, he turned the tables, and “foreclosed on the foreclosers.” Since it’s the perfect cable news interest story, this story received a decent amount of national attention, though as Stephen Colbert pointed out last night, cable news hosts — in particular, Don Lemon — missed the story: Rodgers is a vampire!

Colbert introduced the segment as though he were doing another story from the comfort of his own studio, but the story quickly turned into a field piece that reminded viewers that there is no one better at these sorts of satirical bits than Mr. Colbert. The viewer is taken through a wild ride that features a chroma-key interrupting bit, a cameo by Dan Rather and an ultimate trip to the Vampire’s lair: a nice suburban Tudor home that would make any succubus happy.

Sidebar: This is the second day in a row that Don Lemon has been featured in a segment on a Comedy Central fake news program. The promotion of his new book certainly helped encourage Lemon’s willing participation in the comedic gag, but his timing and willingness to play along reveal why he’s considered one of the best in the business. There’s no question: Don Lemon is having a moment!

The birthing units (I won’t call them mothers) should be arrested for it, and the babies taken away for their own betterment.

The Democratic way is to have the responsible members of society do with less, so as to support the selfish, reckless behavior of their voting base!

Ask Don Lemon. He certainly doesn’t mind stepping from out of the impartial anchor role to brand the entire “black community” as more homophobic than any other. Of course, that’s a myth that has been spread by the media for a while now. It’s hard to counter when networks like the one Lemon works for are reluctant to put people that look like him, or god forbid DARKER, in a prime role. So, since Don is now in the role of making news instead of reporting it, I say ask him. See if he takes his own employers to task. The NAACP already has. Why so quiet Don?

The object of anything on television is to entertain or confirm someone’s world view just enough to SELL PRODUCTS. The rampant homophobia within the African-American community isn’t a myth at all. I’m a gay African-American male from the south, and I think that qualifies me to speak on this with a high degree of credibility. I’ve been exposed to some of the most vicious and hurtful homophobia, most of which comes from my fellow brothers & sisters. Please stop trying to dismiss a lifetime of hardships, rejection, degradation, discrimination, and constant struggle that gay African-Americans have experienced by calling it a myth. It’s insulting, and it’s time for you (and people like you) to own up to it.

It reminds me of a time not so long ago, when segregation was considered to have no negative effects on African-Americans. Your belief that heightened homophobia within the Black community is a myth, and segregationist belief in “separate but equal”, are both LIES with VERY REAL and DANGEROUS consequences.

Since when is The Daily Show or The Colbert Report “Fake News”? They report on the same stories that all of the other news casts report on. They just allow us to view it from a different perspective. Fake news is when the news blows something out of proportion in order to make it news and get us to watch i.e. carmegeddon.
