What Does The Future Hold For David Shuster?
Last night, former MSNBC host David Shuster broke his online silence of some five months to inform his Twitter followers that he would be acting as a substitute radio host for Jim Bohannon this week.
Shuster was suspended by MSNBC back in April (before suspending anchors was en vogue) for having shot a pilot with rival network CNN along with NPR’s Michael Martin, and hasn’t been heard from much in the resulting months. However, now that his contract with the network has reached its end, Shuster is free to speak out about his suspension. Shuster’s first interview since his suspension was with Yahoo’s The Cutline, with which he shares that he feels “no ill will” towards the network which previously suspended him for quipping that Hilary Clinton “pimped out” daughter Chelsea.
So what has be been working on these past few months? A whole new venture, it turns out — one that has nothing to do with the pilot he shot for CNN. After taking time to finish a master’s degree in public policy at Georgetown and performing volunteer work at D.C.-area charter school, Shuster accepted a full-time job which he begins in the new year. While he wasn’t able to offer details about that project just yet, Shuster did mention that would “have a huge impact on political journalism.”
