‘Epic Disaster!’ Billy Ray Cyrus Torched Over Bonkers, Tech-Plagued Performance at Trump Inauguration Ball
Billy Ray Cyrus couldn’t offer much of a performance at President Donald Trump’s Liberty Ball, partially making it through his two biggest hits as he faced repeated audio issues.
At the Washington DC event following Trump’s inauguration, Cyrus was one of multiple musicians to take the stage. Cyrus managed to make it through 12 minutes, but that mainly consisted of him asking if the anyone was “awake” and fiddling with his guitar.
Cyrus kicked things off by performing Old Town Road, but audio cut out in the middle of the song. It briefly came back, but then audio cut out again. Someone came to help Cyrus with his guitar, but there were more technical difficulties. Cyrus eventually ditched his guitar and started singing Achy Breaky Heart.
Videos of Cyrus’s performance quickly spread on social media and critics tore into the musician, some speculating there were more than audio issues and others accusing him of putting on an “epic disaster.”
Carrie Underwood also faced technical difficulties while singing America the Beautiful at Trump’s inauguration. The American Idol winner eventually went into an a capella version of the tune.
