Patrick Clancy Reveals He’s Starting a Family With His New Wife: ‘Can’t Wait To Tell Them About Their Brothers and Sister’

Patrick Clancy revealed to 60 Minutes on Sunday that he hopes to start a new family with wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, as he continues to grieve his three young children who were killed by ex-wife Lindsay Clancy in 2023.

He was the first to find 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan, after they had been strangled in the basement of the family home. The baby was revived and continued to live for four days before he, too, died, Clancy told correspondent Ross Douthat.

“I started reaching out to people at Postpartum Support International,” Clancy said. “I reached out to psychiatrists, experts in the field, and I asked them, ‘What do you think happened?’ And we had some pretty deep conversations.”

Clancy said he moved from Massachusetts to New York City so he could grieve anonymously, and that’s where he met Danis, a fertility doctor.

Danis said that during a date to a coffee shop, “Pat pulled out his phone to pay and I noticed this adorable photo of children as the wallpaper, and I just asked, ‘Who are those cuties?’ And Pat said, ‘Those are my kids,’ and then I think I asked if they live in Massachusetts and Pat said, ‘They died.'”

“So what did you do then?” Douthat asked.

“I guess I had so many questions and yet at the same time I didn’t know exactly what to ask,” Danis said.

Clancy said Danis helps him carry the grief of his enormous loss, saying, “my life has changed since I met Rachel in such a positive way.”

The two were married in New York City in April and told Douthat they were starting a family.

“What are you gonna tell your child about their brothers and sister?” Douthat asked.

“I think every parent can agree you have different relationships with your kids, but they’re all your kids, and I can’t wait to tell them about their brothers and sister,” Clancy said.

Lindsay Clancy’s murder case ended in a mistrial after a lone juror refused to absolve her of criminal liability. The defense had argued that she was suffering from postpartum depression when she killed her children, and should be spared prison time. Although a retrial is expected, the prosecution has yet to refile charges.
