Trump Declares DC Has Gone From the Least to the Most Safe City in the World in Just Days: ‘People Are Flocking!’

President Donald Trump declared that Washington, D.C. has — in the span of just a few short days — gone from the least to the most safe city in the entire world on Truth Social Monday.

“D.C. gave Fake Crime numbers in order to create a false illusion of safety. This is a very bad and dangerous thing to do, and they are under serious investigation for so doing!” began Trump. “Until 4 days ago, Washington, D.C., was the most unsafe ‘city’ in the United States, and perhaps the World. Now, in just a short period of time, it is perhaps the safest, and getting better every single hour!”

“People are flocking to D.C. again, and soon, the beautification will begin!” he continued.

Trump announced last week that he would be deploying National Guard troops inside the U.S. capital in addition to taking control of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The district has been plagues by crime wave in the years following the pandemic, although numbers indicate that it has been falling over the last two years. Some supporters of Trump’s decision have cited an active investigation into crime stats being miscounted on the order of a MPD commander — as well as the local union’s allegation of a more pervasive problem — as evidence that there continues to be a major crime problem. Critics, on the other hand, argue there’s no hard evidence to dispel the reported numbers.

It’s unclear what Trump meant when he asserted that D.C. was the most dangerous city in the United States, much less the planet, prior to his aggressive crackdown on crime last week, or what proof he has that it has gone from worst to first, as there is no proof to be found of either claim.
