‘Paranoid Weirdo’ Dave Portnoy Suggests NY Mets Owner Steve Cohen Was Behind Sex Life Report
Dave Portnoy suggested hedge fund billionaire and New York Mets owner Steve Cohen might be behind Business Insider’s expose accusing the Barstool founder of sexual misconduct.
In the report, three women told Insider sex with Portnoy began consensually, but turned violent. One woman said it felt like she was “being raped,” another claimed she was suicidal after her sexual encounter with Portnoy. Following the investigative report’s release, Portnoy denied any wrongdoing and has sought to redirect the blame, blasting Insider CEO Henry Blodget for the “hit piece.”
“I’ve heard he’s acquaintances with Steve Cohen,” the Barstool founder said of Blodget on The Dave Portnoy Show with Eddie & Co.
Portnoy was asked by his podcast co-host if he truly believes Cohen was behind the report.
“I have no idea,” Portnoy answered. “I feel like I’m in a movie. I don’t know what to believe and there’s a lot of people who don’t like me. I’ve heard time and time again that the GameStop sh*t and when I went after Cohen…they were gonna get me.”
Earlier this year, Portnoy blasted Cohen after restrictions on the trading app Robinhood attempted to squash an organized rally to boost small stocks like GameStop. Portnoy and Cohen engaged in a back and forth on Twitter, which eventually caused the latter to temporarily suspend his account.
“From what you hear, it’s like he’s capable of anything and he’s a vindictive guy,” Portnoy said of Cohen on his recent podcast. “I have no f*cking clue, I’ve never met him. I did chase him off Twitter so I could see this. Everything’s weird, like the timing of when the article dropped.”
Monday night, Portnoy joined Tucker Carlson on Fox News and alleged Insider released the disturbing sex report after “wild shorting” occurred to tank the stock of Barstool’s parent company Penn National. Tuesday night, he suspected the ploy could have been derived by Blodget and Cohen.
“Weirdly, part of me would tip my cap and be like ‘f*ckin Cohen, you’re the real deal man, you really f*cking did it.’ And it’s a little scary…what if they planted sh*t?” Portnoy asked. “I know I sound like a paranoid weirdo, but this is crazy enough in itself to me.”
It also still remains entirely possible that three women coming forward to detail their disturbing encounters with Portnoy had nothing to do with stocks, GameStop or the Mets.
