Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott briefly made an enemy of a ballpark usher when he hit four foul balls in her direction in a single at-bat.
The at-bat occurred in the ninth inning of the Phillies’ Thursday night game against the Atlanta Braves. With count at 1-2, Stott first made contact with a high sinker. It soared into foul territory to his left. As the broadcast switched to track the ball, the usher was seen trying to run away from it. Unfortunately, she ended up running into the path of the ball and was hit in the leg. After the next pitch, the broadcast went back to the scene of the incident, where multiple people crowded around the usher to check on her.
The pitch after that, Stott hit another foul ball in that same section. The very next pitch, Stott hit it toward her again as NBC Sports Philadelphia announcers Tom McCarthy and Ben Davis realized what was happening.
MCCARTHY: Again, fouled off. Uh oh. Look out, look out!
DAVIS: Oh, no.
MCCARTHY: Oh, she’s running the other way!
DAVIS: She’s running at it again!
The crowd around the usher began laughing after the third foul ball came their way. She then turned toward Stott and yelled, “Come on!”
Stott wasn’t done, however. A fourth and final foul ball landed near her, prompting McCarthy to joke that “She’s gonna go down the tunnel, I think.”
