WATCH: Mariners Fan Achieves Near-Impossible Feat of Catching Foul Balls on Back-to-Back Pitches

The Seattle Mariners game on Monday night got off to a once-in-a-lifetime start for one fan who managed to catch foul balls on consecutive pitches.

In the bottom of the first inning, Mariners leadoff hitter Josh Rojas fouled off a pitch from Kansas City Royals starter Brady Singer. One of the cameras in Seattle’s T-Mobile Park tracked the ball as it was caught bare-handed by the fan.

“You talk about a basket catch in its truest form!” play-by-play announcer Aaron Goldsmith said. “Hot start for that guy out there.”

The pitch was just Singer’s second of the game. About 45 seconds later, Rojas fouled off Singer’s third pitch. It appeared to be headed in the same general area as the last foul ball.

“This one’s a little straightened out a little bit more,” Goldsmith said. “Let’s see. Into the corner. Who we got?”

The same fan bent down in an effort to retrieve the ball. When he stood up, he revealed a second ball in his hand as T-Mobile park gave him a round of applause.

“He’s got both!” Goldsmith said. “He got them both! [Team president Jerry Dipoto], give that man a contract! What are the chances?”
