CNN’s Scott Jennings Clashes With Liberal Influencer Adam Mockler Over Political Violence: ‘So It’s Trump’s Fault?!’
CNN’s Scott Jennings threw down with MeidasTouch Network’s Adam Mockler on where exactly to place blame for recent instances of political violence, like the assassination of Charlie Kirk and an ICE facility being targeted by a shooter in Dallas.
On CNN’s Table for Five on Saturday, Mockler accused President Donald Trump of ramping up political divisions by solely blaming political violence on the left. Jennings cited Kirk’s death and the Dallas shooting when declaring there is an “epidemic of left wing violence” in the United States and it has nothing to do with the president.
Jennings at one point flat-out asked Mockler why he couldn’t “take responsibility.”
“Can’t you just take responsibility for it?” Jennings asked.
“Let’s not do the, like, he has to take responsibility since he’s a Democrat,” fellow panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin offered.
“I’m a 22-year-old YouTuber. You want me to take more responsibility than the president of the United States?” Mockler shot back at Jennings.
“I want for you to you understand that we are in the middle of an epidemic of left-wing violence. They’re attacking ICE. They shot Charlie. It’s happening all over the country. We have these free Palestine people running around trying to burn down the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion, on and on and on. It’s not Trump’s fault that the left has radicalized to the point of saying, we’re done talking and we’re gonna start shooting,” Jennings argued.
“Is Trump amping down the tensions?” host Abby Phillip asked.
“I think he’s mad that his friend got murdered,” Jennings said, referring to the recent assassination of Kirk at a Utah college campus.
“The job of the president is to tone down,” Mockler said.
The liberal influencer argued that he was not directly blaming Trump for instances of violence, but rather for creating an “environment” of political divisions.
“Donald Trump was just vomiting vitriol out of his mouth about how the other party is weak and evil. And he just said the party of hate, evil and Satan,” he told Jennings. “You blind yourself to that. And you’re focusing on a 22-year-old YouTuber.”
Check out the exchange below:
ADAM MOCKLER: I’ve spent all of my formative years throughout high school, throughout college, looking to the president, who I’m supposed to be able to look up to, and seeing somebody who’s trying to place blame on the left, who’s amping up the rhetoric constantly, and, yeah, it’s not good.
SCOTT JENNINGS: So you think it’s Donald Trump’s fault that a deranged leftist climbed up to the top of a building and shot up the ICE facility, not once now, but twice in Texas?
MOCKLER: I think it is Donald Trump fault that America has gotten to this heated place. I think that’s —
JENNINGS: No responsibility for the radicalization on the left that’s causing this violent outbreak.
MOCKLER: That 29-year-old’s radicalized by online communities and online algorithms. I’m not gonna blame that directly on Trump, but he was caught in a lot of online video game algorithms, in all these communities. Donald Trump, 10 years ago —
JENNINGS: So it’s Trump’s fault?
MOCKLER: Donald Trump amped up the tension in America.
JENNINGS: So he ran 10 years ago, and this guy then, 10 years later, somehow you’re connecting. Can’t you just take responsibility for it?
MOCKLER: Wait, me?!
ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Let’s not do the, like, he has to take responsibility since he’s a Democrat.
MOCKLER: I’m a 22-year-old YouTuber. You want me to take more responsibility than the president of the United States? I’m a 22-year-old YouTuber, dude.
JENNINGS: I want for you to you understand that we are in the middle of an epidemic of left-wing violence. They’re attacking ICE. They shot Charlie. It’s happening all over the country. We have these free Palestine people running around trying to burn down the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion, on and on and on. It’s not Trump’s fault that the left has radicalized to the point of saying, we’re done talking and we’re gonna start shooting.
ABBY PHILLIP: Scott, is Trump amping down the tensions?
JENNINGS: Amping down the tensions?
PHILLIP: Is he trying to do that?
JENNINGS: I think he’s mad that his friend got murdered, if you want my honest opinion.
MOCKLER: The job of the president is to tone down the rhetoric.
