Fox & Friends Guest Proposes Israel Use Gas to Clear Hamas Out of Gaza Tunnels: ‘Don’t See Any Other Option’
The son of one of Hamas’ co-founders suggested Israel could use chemical weapons to force militants out of their hiding places within Gaza. Fox & Friends co-hosts notably did not react to the controversial tactic.
Brian Kilmeade spoke on Thursday with Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Hamas co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, who is seeking asylum in the U.S. after publicly renouncing the terror group and becoming an informant for Israel. The conversation centered around the Israel-Hamas War as Kilmeade asked Yousef what he thinks Israel should do since they are expected to launch a ground invasion of Gaza.
His answer:
First of all, we need to evacuate civilians, as much as we can. This is an ugly war and Israel did not start it. Hamas did. We need to encourage civilians to go into Egypt, possibly women and children, maybe men over 50 years old. They need to get out of the picture.
Then the strip needs to be cut into two pieces, north and south. Two parts. The northern part — this is where most of the tunnels are — We need have a sodded siege, okay, for long enough to deplete the enemy and to starve them.
After that, we may need to explore using gas. This is like — it sounds horrible, but I don’t see any other option. The tunnels are interconnected, and gas could be one of the solutions. But this has to be in the right time. We cannot just rush into Gaza. There’s no modern army that is prepared for this type of war. And most importantly, we need to get the civilians out of the picture. As long as there are civilians there, then the operation might be incomplete.
Yousef continued to recommend destroying the tunnels beneath Gaza, which have been a source of concern about potential Hamas surprise attacks against Israel.
Poison gas has been condemned internationally since its prevalent use during World War I, with numerous attempts being made to limit their development or restrict the use of chemical weapons. The Syrian government under Bashar al-Assad has faced global demands for accountability for years over the death of civilians from using gas in populated areas.
