‘There Will Be Seizure’: Keith Ellison Tells MSNBC If Trump Doesn’t Pay Up His Assets Will Be Taken And That’s Just ‘The Way It Is’

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison predicted that former President Donald Trump will have his assets in New York seized if he does not pay his bail for fraud.

New York Attorney General Letitia James has begun filing the court motions to seize Trump’s properties if he does not pay his $454 million bail over his company’s fraud conviction. The Republican nominee has until the Monday deadline before James may begin the formal process to seize his properties in New York.

Ellison joined MSNBC’s Al Sharpton for an interview on Sunday and gave his thoughts about Trump’s current legal and financial crisis. Sharpton asked him if he believes whether “justice” will be served against the former president.

SHARPTON: I just want your thoughts as an observer of the legal proceedings against former President Trump right now, I know these aren’t your cases, but we’ve seen Republican as we’ve seen the Republican nominee attacking the prosecutor and the judges. And he has repeatedly sought to delay the proceedings with an election day looming. Are you confident that we’re moving in the direction of justice being served?

ELLISON: Yes, I am confident. And I just want to commend, Attorney General James for pursuing justice and making sure that nobody’s above the law. Nobody’s beneath the law. Certainly Donald Trump is being treated just like any other civil defendant. He’s got to come up with the bond or he’s going to see levy and execution, seizure, to collect on the judgment. That’s just the way that it is. Nobody else would be treated any different. And he should not be treated different.

And we’ll see what happens tomorrow. I don’t have any inside information on what’s going to happen tomorrow. But his moment of reckoning is coming up quick. On the other matter, the sexual hush money case, the prostitution suppression case, which essentially manipulated our electoral system by hiding information, falsifying information that matter is looming as well. And I have every reason to believe that Alvin Bragg is going to see justice served as well.
