Iowa Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds Flat Out Believes Trump ‘Can’t Win’ the 2024 Election

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) endorsed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) on Monday in Des Moines — and one of the big reasons why is she believes former President Donald Trump “can’t win” the 2024 election.

In an interview with NBC News Monday, Reynolds flatly declared that she thinks Trump has no shot to reclaim the presidency next fall.

“Do you believe Trump can’t win?” NBC correspondent Dasha Burns asked.

“Yeah,” Reynolds replied. “I believe he can’t win.”

Reynolds is no RINO. In a post on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, influential Iowa conservative thought leader Bob Vander Plaats called Reynolds “without question Iowa’s most popular Governor in generations.”

Trump, as you might expect, is trying to downplay both the impact of the governor’s endorsement and her overall popularity. In a blistering rant on Truth Social, the former president shared a recent Morning Consult poll which pegged Reynolds as the most unpopular governor in America — with 47 percent disapproval.

“Why would anybody endorse Ron DeSanctimonious, who is like a wounded bird falling from the sky?” Trump wrote. “His Poll numbers are terrible, he is totally against Ethanol, and fought to destroy Social Security and Medicare. Well, the “Nation’s most unpopular governor,” Kim Reynolds of Iowa, just endorsed him. What’s that all about?”

Still, Reynolds holds sway within her party — which is all that ultimately matters in the Iowa caucus. A Des Moines Register poll from earlier this year pegged her approval rating among Republicans at 86 percent.
