Milwaukee Journal Sentinal reporter John Diedrich later confirmed that the officer was from out of town. The shooting occurred near the intersection of North 14th and West Vliet Streets.
One eyewitness identified as “Emmanuel” said the man brandishing the knives was involved in a dispute with another man. Emmanuel claimed the neighborhood “would’ve handled it” had police not arrived and shot one of them.
Just talked to Emmanuel, a local who witnessed the shooting. He said it was two local guys having what he calls an “About To” fight. Said earlier “we (the neighborhood) would’ve handled it” if the police hadn’t been here and started shooting.
