CNN Panelist Slams Dem Rep. For Playing Audio of Crying Children on House Floor: ‘A Serious Person Doesn’t Do That’
During a debate on the House floor Friday, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) played audio posted by ProPublica earlier this week of crying migrant children separated from their parents at the border.
“The American people need to hear this,” Lieu said.
The Congressman was called to order, but did not yield for several minutes.
Jackie Kucinich — Washington bureau chief for the Daily Beast and a CNN contributor — dismissed Lieu’s actions as bush league.
“That’s not serious, what he did,” Kucinich said. “A serious person doesn’t do that. That’s a very serious audio, it’s heart wrenching to listen to. And to politicize that — we see people on the House floor with those silly signs all of the time. That’s not helpful. That’s not helpful to those kids. That doesn’t add anything to the debate.”
