Former FBI Director James Comey held absolutely nothing back during a brief conference Monday on Capitol Hill after meeting with lawmakers. We’ve already chronicled his slams on Fox News and confrontation with one of their reporters in clips which are must-watches. But amid Comey’s putdowns Fox News were some new remarks about President Donald Trump‘s administration which demand to be spotlighted in their own right.
Comey was asked by CNN’s Manu Raju about why he didn’t inform former acting Attorney General Sally Yates about his interview with Michael Flynn.
“Because I knew that if anything came of the interview, if it advanced our investigation, the attack from the Trump Administration would be that an Obama holdover had engineered it,” Comey said. “And so I had to make the decision, separate from her, to leave them with their only opportunity to challenge it would be to burn down the entire FBI. To my shock and horror, they’ve tried to do just that — in the face of silence from people in this building.”
