‘Complete Fiction’: Kremlin Slams CNN’s ‘Hysterical’ Documentary on Vladimir Putin
The Kremlin is is blasting CNN this week over the network’s “odious” new documentary on Vladimir Putin‘s career and world influence as the president of Russia.
“The Most Powerful Man in the World” was put together by Fareed Zakaria, and the CNN special examined how Putin has affected global politics by wielding executive power without any significant checks and balances in his own country. The documentary also touched on the allegations that Russia actively interfered with America’s 2016 election to Donald Trump‘s benefit.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was featured in the film, and Deadline noted that he has spoken with Russian news agencies about the special. Peskov said that Putin hasn’t seen the documentary himself yet, but that it was full of “outdated” and “odious material.”
“There was nothing new in it,” Peskov said. “We’ve read summaries/accounts in the press and everything was as expected. This is the latest hysterical, emotional report based on views that are not backed by substance, views that are often complete fiction.”
