‘Disrespectful’: Calvin Klein Ad Criticized as Soft-Core Porn for Model’s Upskirt Photo
Calvin Klein has come under fire recently for using a photo that critics are saying turns their new ad campaign into pornography.
While the clothing company has been known to use saucy and provocative advertising in the past, an upskirt-style photo of 22-year-old Danish actress Klara Kristen has a lot of people getting upset. The photo was posted to Instagram as part of their “What Do You Do in Your Calvins” campaign, and it quickly received disapproval from many who say it’s too much.
“They’re trying to connect with millennials, but the ad isn’t about the underwear; it’s more about the voyeur,” said Adweek writer Kristina Monllos according to ABC. “Something about that feels weird and gross and crass in a way that makes people uncomfortable.”
Others have taken to social media to liken the photo to child pornogrpahy and call it “sick,” “misogynistic” and “creepy.”
While there’s been pushback from those saying that this image isn’t egregiously removed from their usual kind of marketing, a great deal of Twitter activity has been about pushback:
@CalvinKlein awful ad. Your concept looks predatory. This “upskirt” photo invites men to do this to women. Disrespectful.

I get that @CalvinKlein likes to “go there”, push the envelope and show too much skin but this is just creepy and too far. Not ok in my book
