Fox News’ Laura Ingraham: Child Detention Centers Are ‘Essentially Summer Camps’

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham dismissed the “faux liberal outrage” over President Donald Trump‘s border policy on Monday night, saying migrant children who are taken away from their parents basically get to stay at “summer camp.”

Ingraham kicked off her show by saluting Trump’s zero-tolerance policy and blasting the left and the media for using the issue as a “political weapon.” She also echoed the president’s statements today by saying America is not a repatriation center and must enforce its borders.

At one point, Ingraham had this to say:

“Consistent with American law when the parties arrested, your children are either sent to relatives or they become wards of the state. Since more illegal immigrants are rushing the border, more kids are being separated from their parents, and temporarily housed in what are essentially summer camps or, as the San Diego Union Tribune described them today as looking basically like boarding schools.”

Ingraham didn’t have much to say about how children are being kept in metal cages, and have been heard crying for their parents. She did, however, take time to trash the media for not having a collective heartbreak over violent crimes by illegal aliens, or because of how many children get hurt by the human trafficking element of unlawful immigration.

UPDATE: Ingraham explained her remarks at the end of her show:

“Apparently there are a lot of people very upset because we referred to some of the detention facilities tonight as essentially like summer camps. The “San Diego Union Tribune” today described the facilities as essentially like what you would expect at a boarding school. So I will stick to there are some of them like boarding schools. And I suggest that a lot of the folks who are worried about that spend more time in Central America. I have. And we should make adoption easier for American couples who want to adopt these kids who are true candidates for adoption because our policies don’t allow that. So let’s put our hearts out there for the kids in the right way. Take care of them the right way. Open your hearts and your homes to them.”
