London Under Attack: Seven Killed, Dozens Injured Due to Multiple Terror Incidents (UPDATED)

The London Metropolitan Police has announced that there has been an incident on London Bridge, and the emergency situation has prompted an evacuation from the area.

Early reports from BBC indicate that a white van drove off the road and slammed into a number of pedestrians. It is not clear how many people were injured, though Daily Star suggests that an estimated 15 to 20 people were hit, and there have also been reports of a stabbing as well.
Will Heaven, managing editor for British political magazine The Spectator, has been tweeting from the scene:

London Bridge is currently on lockdown, and emergency services are on site.
The incident comes a day before Ariana Grande was set to return to Manchester, in order to hold a benefit show after her pop concert was attacked by a terrorist last month. It is not yet clear what the nature of the incident is, or if British authorities are treating this as a terror attack.
UPDATE – 6:35 p.m. EST: Both President Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May have been briefed about the incident:

London authorities are addressing another situation near the bridge, at Borough Market:
As well as #LondonBridge officers have also responsed to an incident in #BoroughMarket. We have armed police at the scenes.

Details are still unclear at this point, but reports and witnesses say that multiple perpetrators might be involved, and that the stabbings took place at a nearby restaurant.

Gunfire has also been reported around the area.
UPDATE – 6:50 p.m. EST: Police have given another update on the situation, saying they are now looking into the Vauxhall area:

May’s announcement was followed by a police update, and they announced that there was a stabbing at Vauxhall, though it appears to have no connection to the crises at Borough Market and London Bridge

UPDATE — 11:00 p.m. EST: British authorities have confirmed that six people were killed in the attacks, and that three terror suspects were taken down outside of Borough Market. Police have also said that the suspects’ suicide vests were fake.
