Malik Obama, the President’s Half-Brother, Appears to Have Gone Full Alt-Right Twitter Troll

malik-obama-magaeditedOne of the more weirdly interesting things that popped up during the election was the summertime endorsement of Donald Trump by President Barack Obama’s half-brother, Malik Obama. He not only expressed his support for the real estate mogul, he showed up to the final presidential debate as a guest of Trump’s.

Since placing himself semi in the limelight a few months ago, Malik Obama has been extremely pro-Trump on Twitter. His Twitter account became verified a few weeks ago, and since obtaining that level of legitimacy from the social media platform, he’s gone all in with the over-the-top trolling and memeing that is indicative of the most annoying sectors of the alt-right.

Just in the past few days, here are some of the tweets that have been sent out by Malik.

And it just goes on and on and on like that. And, at first glance, it would seem like he’s had his Twitter account hacked, this is all just some grand parody or he is just extremely lacking in self-awareness.

However, it appears to be something different altogether. Malik Obama has been mentored by one of the most notorious trolls of all time — Chuck Johnson.

According to Buzzfeed, Johnson has said he befriended Malik in the spring and began teaching him the finer details of being a nuisance on Twitter.

“I teach people neurolinguistic programming,” Johnson wrote. “I have them speak while they tweet so that it appears more conversational and I make sure that they tap into people’s emotions and not just their intellect. When Malik Obama told me he supported Donald Trump I helped him throughout the process.”

Johnson, who is permanently banned from Twitter, denied that he was actually writing any of Malik Obama’s tweets, stating that he is a “grown man who does his own tweets.” At the same time, it was noted that WeSearchr, a venture of Johnson’s that is on Twitter, retweeted another user’s tweet claiming that Johnson’s long-range plan was to use POTUS’s brother as a way to attack the media through his verified account.

Buzzfeed noted that while Malik Obama did say that Johnson got him started, he wouldn’t go into any further details because he wanted $1,000 to go further.
