Michael Flynn Reportedly Breaking With Trump Legal Team, Possibly Cooperating With Mueller
Michael Flynn‘s representatives have made a new legal move, according to a new report, and it suggests he is complying with Robert Mueller‘s investigation into possible Trump-Russia collusion.
Multiple sources have told The New York Times that Flynn’s lawyers have told the White House’s legal team that they can no longer discuss Mueller’s special counsel investigation. Even though the notification doesn’t affirm Flynn’s cooperation by itself, indications are that President Trump‘s team took the news as a sign that the former national security adviser is talking with Mueller.
In the past, Flynn and Trump’s legal teams had an agreement to keep each other informed throughout the investigation. Sharing information is not unusual during intertwining investigations, though defense attorneys are required to stop whenever it poses a conflict of interest.
Flynn and his son are believed to among those with the greatest amount of possible legal exposure to Mueller’s investigation. Previous reports have suggested that Mueller has enough evidence to charge Flynn, which has prompted the latter to be concerned for his son, who works as his business partner and former adviser for the Trump campaign.
Cooperation with Flynn could provide new insight into the Trump campaign, as well as the first few weeks of the Trump White House.
