Michael Reagan: I’d Break Trump’s Thumbs Over His ‘Absolutely Stupid’ Wiretap Tweets
Michael Reagan has made it clear that he is not Donald Trump‘s biggest fan, and yesterday, the son of Ronald Reagan took aim at the president’s allegations that Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower.
Reagan spoke with Steve Malzberg on Monday, saying that Trump put his own staff in a difficult position by making his allegations without presenting any solid evidence. Reagan was especially concerned given that Trump’s tweets changed the narrative and cancelled out the momentum he was getting after his address to Congress last week.
“[Trump] should also be telling his staff he’s going to be tweeting things of this nature out,” Reagan said. “If I was a member of his staff right now, I’d be breaking his thumbs. That’s what I would be doing to stop him from tweeting behind our backs with things that are in fact going to change the narrative of what’s going on.”
Reagan went on to say that Trump’s tweets were “absolutely stupid politically,” and that the president’s staff are undoubtedly working to figure out how to act on his tweets in the future.
Yesterday, Kellyanne Conway defended Trump’s claims by saying that he has access to information that’s not publicly available, though press secretary Sean Spicer seemed more reluctant to use that argument.
