Mike Pence Purges Lobbyists From Donald Trump’s White House Transition Team
Donald Trump‘s White House transition team seems to have experienced another upheaval. Wall Street Journal reported that a source close to Vice-President Elect Mike Pence, who has taken over the transition effort, said that many lobbyists, administrators, and bureaucrats recommended by Chris Christie have been purged, and might soon be replaced by Trump campaign loyalists.
In the days following his election, Trump has faced criticism from those saying he hasn’t shown any sign of living up to his campaign promise to “drain the swamp” of Washington insiders. Trump defended having lobbyists on his staff during an interview with 60 Minutes, saying it was necessary to talk with people who know the system and can direct him towards the areas that must be addressed.
There have been multiple indications lately which suggest that Trump’s transition team is conflicted on the direction the president-elect should take in office. New York Times corroborated these reports today, which Trump addressed on Wednesday morning with a Twitter tirade.
