National Weather Service Warns of ‘Fake Forecasts’ Online

There has been a fake forecast circulating online about the path of Hurricane Irma. A Fox26 meteorologist warned everyone this morning to “beware of #FakeNews,” explaining that “some trolls are creating incorrect maps that show Hurricane Irma moving toward Houston.”

Mike Iscovitz went on to say that “none of the computer models points at Houston and even if they did, the hurricane center would never in a million years forecast a landfall two weeks away.”

So earlier today, the National Weather Service posted a warning to everyone about how to tell an official forecast from a fake one:
